35 days Challenge Post-10 10. Just-In-Time (JIT) It’s like ordering your wardrobe just before you have to wear it, only for parts and inventory. JIT reduces waste and storage costs by delivering materials exactly when needed.

My latest document, now available on LinkedIn, provides valuable insights on the topic of Just-In-Time (JIT). In a world where operational efficiency is crucial, an understanding of the principles of JIT can significantly impact business operations. Just-In-Time (JIT) is a strategic approach focused on the production and delivery of goods and services in a timely manner to meet actual customer demand. It emphasizes the reduction of waste and the ongoing enhancement of production processes. In today's rapidly evolving and competitive business environment, the adoption of JIT principles can result in cost savings, improved quality, and heightened productivity. I am confident that a comprehensive grasp of the JIT concept can have a transformative effect on many businesses. I invite you to engage in a dialogue and share experiences in this area. -Eilamaran Pareneesamy (EP) #LeanManagement #EPLogisticsInsights #FreightForwardingMY #SCMTrends #IndustryInsights #NetworkingMY

Is your factory getting a busier and busier but running into trouble, stoppages and on a bit of a rollercoaster…. We have a 50 statement self assessment that you can use on a "walkabout" and there is a link to that in the comments below but let's consider a couple of things that you might want to take a look at: 🔵There is a balance between scheduling resources rigidly and allowing the pace of the plant to trigger replenishment. The trade off comes in stock & WIP. A judgement has to be made on the product the site is producing and the allowable stock. 🔵A lean operation will use space efficiently. Materials are moved only once straight to point of use. The inclusion of WIP storage areas indicates poor scheduling, excess stock, unbalanced flow and all manner of potential risk. 🔵When I come and have a walk around your factory I am generally looking for stock, pallet trucks, fork trucks and how many people are involved in moving material through the site. 🔵Another good indicator is machine performance being affected by lack of materials, or running longer to use up extra stock. 🔵Inventory & WIP is usually one of the first things you see. I can see alot from the stock piled in storage and WIP areas and that which collects on the lines at pinch points and bottlenecks. Day 10/100 #100DaysOfLeanManufacturingChallenge 🏭 JIT Just-in-time (JIT) is a production and logistics method that aims to produce and deliver products or services at the exact time they are needed, in the exact quantity, and at the right place. JIT is based on the following three principles: · Production is pulled by demand 👉 requiring the use of #pullFlow tool. · Inventories are minimized 👉 requiring the use of inventory tools such as the Wilson model. · Quality is paramount 👉 necessitating the use of #PokaYoke tools to reduce the costs of remanufacturing and returns. #Lean #LeanManufacturing #JIT

Just-In-Time (JIT) What is Just-In-Time? Just-In-Time pulls parts through production based on customer demand instead of pushing parts through production based on projected demand. Relies on many lean tools, such as Continuous Flow, Heijunka, Kanban, Standardized Work, and Takt Time. How does Just-In-Time help? Just-In-Time is highly effective in reducing inventory levels. Improves cash flow and reduces space requirements.

Do you accept the "end of the month" rush as a normal part of your business? If your team is working at a breakneck pace at the end of the month or quarter to make the numbers, is that really efficient? Is that good for your team members? Is it good for your customers? Do your customers actually need more of your product at the end of the month/quarter? Or, is this a result of sales incentives and financial accounting structure? Today's video is about the concept of leveling the workload. This is an important part of Lean and Toyota Production System, and it should be applied to the entire business.
Today's video is a conversation about leveling work (heijunka). Jeffrey Liker's 4th principle of the Toyota Way is "Level out the Workload." We often think of this in terms of production, but does it apply to when we ship product to the customer? Are sales quotas or other metrics driving you to ship a large percentage of your sales at the end of the month? Can we apply the concept of heijunka to this part of our business? What about our suppliers' shipments? Are we receiving infrequent, large deliveries of purchased materials? #leanmanagement #leanthinking #leveling #leanmanufacturing #supplychain https://lnkd.in/eAPkhHJG

What is Just-in-Time? Just-in-time (JIT) is an inventory management strategy that reduces waste and increases efficiency by receiving inventory only as they are needed for production, not ahead of time. This significantly reduces the 8 wastes in lean manufacturing. Just-in-Time is a great way to minimize inventory costs and space while improving responsiveness and flexibility. Since parts are only ordered when needed, this reduces long-term costs on raw materials, as well as allowing the producer to make changes to their product without being held back by dead stocks. This means: 1) Reduced Operating Costs 2) Lower Labor Costs in Maintaining Inventories 3) Lower Rates of Defects 4) Improved Quality in Products 5) Shorter Throughput Time 6) Reduced Production Hours 7) Faster Times to Market 8) Improved Cash Flow A comprehensive plan coupled with informed people can bring powerful results to the Just-in-Time method. #justintime #toyotaway
