A couple weeks ago, I wrote an article Data and Analytics in the Enterprise: Overcoming Challenges to Drive Business Success (https://lnkd.in/g9_vEJwa), and it got me thinking even more about the intersection of AI and the financial services industry. 📈 With time to market for AI projects hovering at 12-18 months, organizations are looking for ways to accelerate and de-risk these programs. McKinsey & Company's recent article on scaling analytics across financial services shows that, once again, financial services leads the way in innovation to address these concerns. One key area of focus is how organizations define, vet, and prioritize projects. In the Harvard Business Review's "Getting AI to Scale", the authors note that many companies struggle to fully realize the potential of AI because they focus on discrete use cases, which only bring incremental change. Much of the time and effort is focused on technical implementation, which leads to mixed outcomes and business impact. Much of the “easy” innovation is done (data warehouses, BI standardization, etc). While technical implementation is important, the success of AI projects now heavily relies on effective collaboration and user adoption. My article about scaling data and analytics in the enterprise recognizes that this comes with its challenges and highlights legacy systems, data governance, cultural resistance, measuring ROI, and data quality as factors that need to be addressed. However, with the right investments in modern technologies, clear governance policies, training and education, accurate ROI measurement, and data quality control procedures, enterprises can successfully scale their data and analytics programs. Last week, we had the privilege of gathering with Data, Analytics, and AI leaders in downtown Toronto for a lunch-time panel hosted by CDO Magazine to talk about market trends and learnings with Fortune 500 executives.
