Recs, please! Looking for an uplifting, motivating, and engaging nonfiction page-turner of a book to gimme a little added spark. Bonus points for research-centric or science-backed. I ran the book club at VMware, so I've plowed through a LOT of business books, but my reading nook has been a bit lonely lately. Ah! I have a brilliant, optimistic, and tres-sciencey tome for you. It will keep you busy for a long time and it's easy/nice to leave and go back to--I've been reading it off and on for two years. An incredible and motivating assessment that challenges historical and sociological dogma about how ancient civilizations governed and organized. Spoiler: they were very creative and playful with their control structures, and often times ditched them as soon as they got too boring or didn't make for happiness. Can you imagine? I can, and this body of work is a source of great inspiration for yours truly :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dawn_of_Everything

It Takes What It Takes by Trevor Moawad is one of the best books I've ever read (you can also listen to the audiobook on Spotify or Apple). It’s an incredibly motivating book and postures a unique take on achieving goals… He leads with candor and I think it’s really impactful.
