As kids, we would always show off that we are from a rich family (happens, right 😊) and if you do come from good money, it would become a bragging point! And, when you grow up, even those who come from good money, starts to share how they come from such a poor, modest and humble background. Else, they know that their success is going to be taken for granted (mostly with kids who inherit their fathers wealth/Business) See, as you grow up, you don’t show off or brag about inheritance but brag about the struggles you have had to reach wherever you are because that’s what people like.. People like those stories or you can say, success isn’t that successful for those who come from all the resources background and I feel bad for them. Just saying!! IYKYK! Our understanding about the world too change growing up and we start to realise that as adults, we get inspired by those who struggled and made it big vs who had it all. Like, you would love Ranbir Kapoor but his story won’t be as inspiring to you as of Akshay Kumar or others because Ranbir had it all since birth! Reality Check!

If you have been working from 2/4/6 or any numbers of years! Think, where were you and where you are now in terms of your knowledge, experience, money, lifestyle etc ! And these are the first few years of your life which are foundational! You are growing to grow multifold in next few years in terms of everything! Right from your knowledge to experience to skills to money to saving to growth ! Just enjoy the journey! You will do even better in next few years! Compound growth happens in personal life too and not just in finance 😊 #belive

Heard this in Kota factory and this hit me and made so much sense : “Jab aapne apni manzil aur rasta khud choona ho aur raaste mein mazza bhi aa raha ho toh dusro ki success se farak nahi padna chahiye.” (English translation) "When you've chosen your own destination and path, and are enjoying the journey, others success shouldn't matter to you." I continue to see so many people who have choosen their own paths but they struggle to handle the success of others! Get inspired from other successful people and learn from them! They are getting what they worked for or working for and we are getting what we have worked for or working for! You don’t like things, take responsibility and change it!

You make one bad post on LinkedIn about leaving a company or a bad experience, and you have hundreds of people joining the bandwagon, including some LinkedIn/SM influencers. But not many post about their good, better, or great experiences at the workplace. Any fresher looking to get into the corporate world gets on LinkedIn and all they see are posts about toxic culture, bad managers, bad experiences, and poor HR, etc. A fresher is coached by their seniors or experienced elder siblings on how brutal the corporate world is going to be, how they must not make friends at the workplace (like really?), and how to be only strictly professional (how can you be professional without bringing your personal self to work?). Imagine the picture a fresher forms about the corporate world even before they enter it. It’s like if toddlers could use social media to share their stories about how bad school could be, how bad teachers could be (everyone has some bittersweet experiences in school), and they had the option to vent out every single bad experience in school on social media. If my kid had access to this, I would have never been able to send my kid to school (he would have never wanted to go to school) or change his perspective because very rarely would some kid share a positive story or experience on social media. But as parents, we prepare our kids for the bigger world and tell them how much fun they are going to have in school, make friends, have great learning experiences, and meet incredible people. Yes, we prepare them for bad experiences too, and that’s life. I wish we could see more positive experiences and stories instead of just about toxic culture, bad managers, and bad experiences. The worst part is that such posts (about bad experiences) easily garner more likes, comments, and reposts. The reality - is there is more good than bad, but people don’t often share the good. Mic drop!

A valuable piece of advice I received from my father when I was promoted to a manager role. He emphasized the importance of being a "doctor" to your team. Just like a doctor's reassurance can comfort and heal a patient, as managers, our words and actions can make a significant impact on our team members' well-being and performance. Remember, it's about putting people first and resolving issues promptly. Let's strive to be "good doctors" to our people as we navigate through daily challenges. #Leadership #ManagementAdvice

My son is 3 years old and he started to go to school so I spend sometime teaching him something and the other day we were doing numbers. I drew a 6 on paper and I asked him what number it is and he said - it’s 9.. I corrected him and said it’s 6 and not 9 but then I realised that from where he was seeing the number- he was right! Sometimes, 2 people can have 2 different view about the same thing and yet, both can be right! Sometimes, the perspective differs! #norightnowrong #differentperspective

A lot of times you would have come across someone teaching people to get into IITs/IIMs/Ivy Leagues, etc., but haven’t been into those institutes themselves. Or a coach of a major sport who himself was not a decorated or a champion player. Sometimes, people think that if the person did not crack that exam or won that game/championship, how can they help others to get in or get to the same heights? Well, we need to understand that not every #Achiever would want to be a #Teacher and every #Teacher may not be an #Achiever. But those coaches/trainers/leaders (who did not make it big themselves) are excellent #teachers and have the ability to create more #Achievers because of the passion they have to teach others that achievers don’t. Most achievers want to do bigger things for themselves (and nothing wrong in that) but teachers want to do bigger things for others and get the kick out of it!! #TeachervsAchiever

Air Jordan!! What a shoe it is, right? I know we have a lot of fans in the house!!   Well, Sometime back my wife and I had a chance to watch this movie called- AIR. I heard a lot about it from my friends and to some, it is about Nike, to some its about Michael Jordan and to some its about the guy who convinces the Jordans to sign up with Nike. The movie shows 1984 and that time, Sneaker Basketball Market Share was    Converse- 54% Adidas- 29% Nike- 17%   It’s a great movie (I don’t know how much of its true) and it had some impact on me.  Its of the time when Michael Jordan did not even step into NBA. (you still need to see the whole movie thou 😊). SO,    There is this guy, Phil- who created Nike from scratch and is the CEO of the company. Phil has a guy, Rob Strasser who is the Head of Nike’s Basketball Division. Rob, hires a rookie, Sonny (who had solid understanding of the basketball game and the eyes to identify the right talent) to sign up the best basketball player for Nike as their brand ambassador. And then there is THE Michael Jordan himself.   The movie talks about how Sonny got the Jordans to sign the deal with Nike. And That was great. The way the whole team (right from CEO to Rob to Marketing Head and Sonny) got together to work on the stratgey to convince Michael Jordan to sign the deal with Nike. And,    There is this guy, Peter Moore who is the creative director of Nike.   And, no matter how good strategy they had, they needed the shoe that Jordans couldn’t say NO to and doesn’t sign up with Addidas. Peter designed and named the Air Jordan and rest is the history (he died a month befere the production of the movie was announced). The deal went on and Nike got over $162M in 1st year itself from Air Jordan sales vs their ambition of doing $3M in 3 years. Today, Air Jordan accounts for $4B in annual sales for Nike. Nike bought Converse in 2003.    Today when you see Air Jordan and look at Nike, you see a great shoe and a great company but none of us think about the person who designed the shoe. Without this design, Nike would have never been able to convince the Jordans to sign with them.    Similarly, in our day today life, we see a great company, many great performers but we don’t see the people behind it. Always, look at people behind those big things. Appreciate their efforts and not just people who are the front face! Saw a video where the famous Stand Up comedian, Zakir Khan shared a profound thought: "Jab hum Manpasand ki Jagah Sahi karne lag jaaye, toh matlab hum badein ho gaye hai!!" It made me reflect on the importance of choosing what is right for us over simply doing what we like. Here are some key takeaways: - Manpasand (what I like/prefernce ) may involve shortcuts for quick success, while Sahi (doing right ) requires learning to work hard. - Manpasand might be indulging in anything we desire, whereas Sahi is about eating right. - Manpasand could be binge-watching Netflix, while Sahi involves making time to work out. - Manpasand is to give up, but Sahi is about persevering and fighting on. - Manpasand could be avoiding difficult conversations, while Sahi is about having them when necessary. - Manpasand may involve judging others, while Sahi is about finding inspiration in right people. - Manpasand may entail seeking advice from anyone, while Sahi is about seeking guidance from those who have achieved what we aspire for.
