In the last month, more than 20 hedge funds have filed notices of new offerings, based on Form D filings on Radient. Taula Capital just filed a Form D disclosing $137M raised in the Taula Global Macro Fund Ltd. This new hedge fund, led by former Millennium portfolio manager Diego Magia, is set to start trading in the first half of the year. With a target of $4bn to $5bn in investor capital, it aims to be the largest launch in over a year. #hedgefunds #investing

Announcing AIMA's first research report on Artificial Intelligence - "Getting in pole position: How hedge funds are leveraging Gen AI to get ahead."   Access the full report for free: https://lnkd.in/e5R23dqC   The report explores hedge fund managers' attitudes towards Gen AI. It outlines how they use these new tools, where they foresee future opportunities, and the barriers between them and greater adoption.   The findings of the report come from a global survey of 157 hedge fund managers that closed in December 2023. A second Harvard Business School case has just been published on Partners Capital. Alex Band, our CIO, and many of the other HBS alums at Partners Capital are proud to have another case written on our company. Both cases were written by HBS investment management professor Luis M. Viceira who is just an absolute joy to work with. This case follows one written almost 10 years ago on our work taking the Yale endowment model of investing to a number of different Cambridge University Colleges. This second HBS case is a highly detailed examination of how Partners Capital evaluates investment managers using an example comparing two technology sector-focused long-short public equity managers. This is very pertinent on the back of the tech melt down in 2022.  It makes the very important point of how rare true outperformance is, especially among investors in public equities, and goes on to describe our various quantitative tools which aim to separate out luck from skill in assessing past investment outperformance or alpha. This is a great expose of what happens “behind the curtain” at Partners Capital and emphasises to potential future equity analysts in the classroom, how difficult their job will be in justifying they are adding value. In late November 2023, Alex and I had the pleasure of being in the HBS classroom in Aldwych Hall for the first two 90-minute classes, one being taught by Professor Viceira and the second by Professor Emil Siriwardane. It was hard sitting on our hands for the first 60 minutes, but we enjoyed fielding an onslaught of questions from the students in the last 30 minutes.
