"I need you to say NO" is the message from five young people sharing a simple but potent message to parents about underage drinking. At Meli, we see the impact of alcohol on young people and families every day. Under-age drinking can lead to risky behaviour and injuries, mental ill-health and harmful alcohol use later in life. The “I need you to say no” campaign is a collaborative project between Meli, Communities That Care Ltd and Barwon Health urging parents and adults to 'say no' to providing alcohol to under 18s. Parents can play a big role in influencing young people’s attitudes to drinking as well as managing their access to alcohol. See more on the project and learn about the NHMRC guidelines and alcohol-related harm here: https://lnkd.in/gT3w4-uB

So many of those who publish their stories on Causifi convey feelings of stuck-ness and isolation, as Lisa DiTota shares here. Delay in diagnosis, scarcity of available treatment options and inadequate public awareness are all factors that compound the impact of illness on a person’s life. We must do better to support individuals living with illness, starting with talking about it openly, consistently, and loudly.
