Let's make a difference in our community together! Our First Federal Bank of Kansas City was thrilled to be part of the Summer cookout with families empowered by Coldwater. We had fun grilling out chili dogs, spreading laughter and giving back to those around us. #community

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here. Been quite busy building Coram Houses. However, this post from an incredible non-profit StepUp Durham caused me to pause and reflect on partnerships… Coram has one mission: break cycles of injustice through creative affordable housing. And as the business grows and takes its shape, what becomes clearer and clearer is that mission is not and cannot be our own. We need partners. We need change makers like Syretta Hill to advocate for and lead pilot programs for universal basic income for formerly incarcerated folks, and seeking out ways to push even further an find safe equitable housing for folks at the margins. We need homeowners willing to share their land and build ADUs with the purpose of creating housing for the housing insecure. We need vendor partners, and capital partners, and government partners, and banking partners—to ensure those builds are accessible to those who need them most. The conscious and just world where cycles of injustice are broken requires intentional partnerships. Lots of them. And I’m glad to be in a city like Durham where so many folks recognize that and are looking to partner to ensure resources get to where they are most needed. There is value in grit, in pulling up bootstraps…but there is absolute magic in collaborative partnership and sharing! Excited to share more soon:)
Out & about with Syretta! Our ED had lunch at Saltbox Seafood Joint with her Leadership North Carolina classmate, Jesse Battle, Senior Director of Community Partnerships TRIANGLE RESIDENTIAL OPTIONS FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSERS, INC (TROSA), and then coffee at Little Waves Coffee Roasters / Cocoa Cinnamon LLC with Topher Thomas, Founder of Coram Houses to discuss his innovative work to address affordable and decent housing for our most underinvested communities in Durham. Relationships with both of these valued community partners strengthen our broader community and expand the resources provided in creating stability and success for our vulnerable and underserved individuals. #wraparoundservices #communityresources #communitypartners #retentionresources #housinginstability #affordablehousing #durhamnc

Founder/CEO Social Capital Builders. Recognized innovator and pioneer advancing economic mobility and impact through social capital education and social network analysis.
Fresh insights from the Maryland Innovation Center: we were privileged to present our strategy to the Rotary of Columbia, MD, focusing on the pressing issue of gun violence that's affecting not only our urban centers but also our suburban neighborhoods. Our approach is centered on building social capital—fostering a network of relationships among local agencies, community leaders, and residents. We've seen firsthand how this strategy can reduce gun violence by creating an environment of mutual support and collaboration, leading to stronger, more responsive interventions. The link between social capital and safer communities is undeniable. By strengthening the fabric of trust and cooperation, we not only combat gun violence but also pave the way for a more resilient society. This is a call to action for cities and towns alike. Let's embrace a social capital approach not just to reduce gun violence, but also to unlock economic opportunities and bolster community development. And let's begin right here in Maryland. If you're ready to explore how these strategies can be implemented in your area, let's connect and make our communities safer, stronger, and more prosperous. #knowyournetwork #CititesUnited #SocialCapitalBuilders #GunViolenceReduction #transform2change #StrongerTogether

Exceptional brand storytelling. Use data to identify a power user. Talk with them. Learn what motivates them. Find the heartbeat behind that passion. Then amplify it for the world to hear. One rideshare video can translate to mindshare and marketshare. Brilliant, Lyft. Full story in comment below. #Marketing #Branding #DataStorytelling

It's been just over three years since Detroit received federal funding from President Joe Biden's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The $826.7 million, appropriated by the Detroit City Council, created a variety of programs and has already improved the quality of life for many Detroiters. ✅ Renew Detroit: completed 500 roofs for seniors, low-income, and the disabled community. ✅ Skills for Life: 638 residents completed career readiness, with another 496 enrolled in job training and literacy programs. ✅ Downpayment Assistance: more than 300 new homeowners received grants of up to $25,000. ✅ ShotStoppers: Community Violence Intervention: implementation of six community organizations to help reduce crime in their neighborhoods, with two groups seeing a 72% and 48% drop in homicides and non-fatal shootings. ✅ Motor City Match: $6.1 million in grants awarded to small businesses; 93 new businesses placed in brick-and-mortar facilities. ✅ Neighborhood Beautification: 36 grants (up to $15,000) were awarded to neighborhood associations, block clubs, and faith-based groups for beautification projects. Working Genius Invention & Discernment Leveraging strategies to enhance parish communities across the US Ideation | Strategic | Achiever Change Style: Originator
No shoes is a dress code I love. Putting socks and dress shoes on, being back on the road in Texas was recharging. Spending time with parishes and diocese leaders in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin and Waco planning strategies to enhance their impact on souls reignites my passion for why we support the Church.. and do what we do everyday. God has placed each of us in this sector at this particular time for a reason. Helping priests and parish leaders overcome the scarcity mindset that plagues religious organizations. Priests aren't necessarily discerned for fundraising and philanthropy. Parish budgets aren't usually able to support the skill set necessary to design, implement and analyze outreach strategies. Having to leave the comfort of home office dress code (yes never wearing socks or shoes is the best) and hit the airport, car rental facility, gas station beverage center and local groceries in hopes to encourage one parish to take one step forward for the future of their community is a blessing each of us have. Looking forward to some more windshield time soon in Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth. #catholicstewardship #growthmindset #onpurposeforthefuture

On #HungerActionDay, we want to share some stats with you that reveal how much hunger adversely affects our community. Throughout our region: • 1 in 11 individuals experience food insecurity • 1 in 8 children are at risk of hunger • 1 in 14 seniors don't know where their next meal will come from • 1 in 8 Black neighbors and 1 in 8 Hispanic neighbors are disproportionately impacted by hunger Luckily, there are many ways you can help us turn this grim reality into a positive one for thousands of families in Missouri and Kansas. Make a difference today (and every day) by giving food, giving time, giving money or giving voice. https://lnkd.in/ervBeBa4

3rd attempt to post. Though at DEA they are not so proud to highlight their shortcomings that they have no issue hiding from taxpayers. They removed my previous posts which simply expresses DEA's willingness to hide their incompetence and disabled comments on the appropriate post. If this firm put out the truth and numbers of how many things they had to redo on this Highway 20 Safety Upgrade between Corvallis and Albany OR taxpayers would have something to say about this firm’s laughable ranking. How about it DEA, put out an itemized list of everything that had to be done two or three times because it wasn’t done right in the first place and how much taxpayers money was wasted in the process. In my driveway alone they had to do multiple things more than once. No wonder ODOT never comes in on budget with incompetence like this! Taxpayers should not have to foot the bill for this! DEA was contracted for at least the Newberg-Dundee Bypass, the worst one, up 239% from original estimate. https://lnkd.in/epv6uESx
Meet our next community champions in our Denver office! Our Denver staff volunteers for Food for Thought, an organization that seeks to provide children across the Denver metro area with food certainty over weekends during the school year. McKenna Jones, who participated along with teammates from DEA’s Denver office, said, “We recognize the importance of giving back to the communities in which we work, which is why we are proud to partner with Food for Thought Denver. Children are the future, and we are passionate about working to eliminate childhood hunger in our community.” At DEA, we're proud to highlight our community champions who embody our commitment to corporate social responsibility.
