Among other recently filled roles, our team just hired an operations manager who was not only an excellent cultural fit (very important) but our services resulted in cost savings for our client (equally important!). Average fees at typical staffing firms may be upwards of 25% of the new hire's base salary however at SDHR Consulting we strive to not exceed 20%. Clash of the Titans. Inhouse HR vs Hiring Managers. All playing for the Same Team Had a really great conversation this morning with a HR Leader who was telling me the hardships of not getting buy in from their Departmental Hiring Managers. Expectations from Hiring Managers often dont align with the expectations of the HR and Recruitment Team. He said that often hiring managers want their position as priority number one even though the recruiter has 20 plus jobs, hiring managers arent happy with the skill set or pipeline of candidates coming through. This can even happen when a gold candidats have come through and are a 100% alignment with the company and the role requirements and culture and the instruction is - can we see more CVs. The hiring manager may require an over experienced and qualified candidate where a budget and skills set required for this person may not align. I think it is key for HR and Recruiters to set up their strategy from early doors to discuss expectations and realities and have a clear plan of how a search will prevail and this should include a collaboration of both with weekly meetings to discuss or iron out any details or feedback. Working in a consulting firm as a talent acquisition professional can be challenging, despite common misconceptions about the job role. Hi connections, Hope you are doing good. Sharing an important incident which I just faced as a job seeker through one of the HR staffing firms, let's leave the disclosing the name as of now. I thought creating awareness regarding the ongoing work culture was important, hence doing the same otherwise I would have ignored and kept it with myself. As a job seeker who is exploring opportunities since quite long now, I came across a job post on LinkedIn with 1.5-3 years experience and showed my interest though after discussion with the recruiter I came to know that they have really less budget as per the experience range mentioned. I thought I should at least share my candidature and attend the interview as I am really in need of an opportunity and if everything goes well but after having the compensation discussion at a later stage if they are still going to offer the same, maybe I'll still join as the recruiter told the compensation is either a bit less or almost the same as my current. Today, I checked for the shortlisting update from the recruiter and I got the feedback that as per the hiring manager, their firm only hires candidates who have worked throughout their career of 2-3 years for clients in staffing firms and don't consider candidates who have worked for internal/ inhouse recruitment in any other organisation along with the staffing experience. I have experience in both client hiring as well as internal recruitment in a Big4. I am really awestruck by the policy that is being followed.
