California employers are to develop and implement a comprehensive Workplace Violence Prevention Plan and train employees as of July 1, 2024, to comply with SB 553. The goal of the WVPP is to have an effective plan in place to address and mitigate the risks associated with workplace violence. HOW OUR TEAM CAN ASSIST Our team of consultants will work alongside the employer and designated employee(s) to develop a customized WVPP. PHASE I - Determine Risks - As part of the discovery process, our consultant will help identify relevant risk factors associated with workplace violence employees might encounter. - Identify Mitigation Strategies - Based on the organization's risk factors, mitigation strategies will be developed to help recognize, prevent, and respond to potential or actual workplace violence. - Create WVPP - A custom WVPP will be created tailored to the individual workplace risks identified in the discovery process and plans for implementing the mitigation strategies. PHASE II - WVPP Training - Our consultants will assist in developing and presenting an onsite or virtual interactive WVPP training to employees based on the written plan and the training requirements outlined in SB 553. #humanresources #workplacepolicies #hrconsulting #hr #calaw #hrconsulting #wvpp

Attention, California employers! Stay ahead of the curve with the new workplace violence prevention requirements coming your way. Beginning July 1, 2024, California employers of all sizes must have a comprehensive workplace violence prevention plan in place. Here's a breakdown of what you need to know: 1. Written Workplace Violence Prevention Plan: Develop and maintain a plan that is accessible to all employees, covering hazards and corrective measures in each work area. This plan should involve employee participation, hazard identification, and continuous improvement. 2. Violent Incident Log: Keep a detailed log of workplace violence incidents, ensuring to exclude personal identifying details. Review this log yearly, after incidents, or when deficiencies are identified. 3. Training: Provide initial and annual training on the workplace violence prevention plan to all employees. Additional training is required when new hazards are identified, or plan changes are made. Ensure training materials cater to employees' language, literacy, and educational levels. Exemptions include healthcare employers under the state's standard, Dept. of Corrections, Rehabilitation, Law Enforcement Agencies, remote employees, and worksites with fewer than 10 employees not open to the public. Get a head start on your workplace violence prevention plan by collaborating with a proficient HR professional. New California Workplace Violence Prevention Requirements! Starting July 1, 2024, all California employers must implement a written workplace violence prevention plan, maintain a violent incident log, and provide annual workplace violence prevention training to employees. This mandate applies to nearly all employers and employees across the state, with a few exceptions. Key Highlights: Workplace Violence Prevention Plan: Employers must develop a tailored plan addressing hazards and corrective measures, incorporating employee involvement in implementation, hazard identification, plan improvement, incident reporting, and training design. This plan can be part of the existing injury and illness prevention program or a separate document. Regular reviews and inspections are required. Violent Incident Log: Maintain a log documenting each workplace violence incident based on employee and witness statements, and investigational findings. Personal identifying information must be excluded. The log must be reviewed annually, when incidents and deficiencies arise. Training:* Provide initial and annual training on the workplace violence plan. Additional training is necessary for new hazards or plan changes, and materials must suit employees' language, literacy, and educational levels. For comprehensive details on these requirements, visit our platform and Cal/OSHA’s Workplace Violence Prevention Guidance and Resources page. For questions and free technical assistance, contact the Cal/OSHA Consultation Services Branch at (800) 963-9424 or InfoCons@dir.ca.gov. Action Items: - Create a written workplace violence prevention plan. - Make it accessible to all employees. - Provide training on the plan. Stay proactive and ensure your workplace is safe and compliant! #WorkplaceSafety #ViolencePrevention #CaliforniaLaw #EmployerResponsibilities #EmployeeSafety #CalOSHA

Does your company collaborate with local law enforcement or other relevant authorities to address workplace violence concerns? Regarding OSHA's stance on workplace violence: The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) emphasizes the importance of employers taking steps to prevent and address workplace violence. While OSHA does not have a specific standard for workplace violence, it is covered under the General Duty Clause, which requires employers to provide a safe and healthful workplace. OSHA encourages employers to develop and implement effective workplace violence prevention programs, conduct risk assessments, and train employees on recognizing and responding to potential threats. Employers are also advised to investigate incidents, maintain accurate records, and continually reassess and update their prevention efforts. #workplacesafety #workplaceviolence #osha #safety
