A little over a week ago my nearly eighteen-year career at C.H. Robinson was cut short due to restructuring. I want to thank my friends, co-workers and clients for teaching me to take chances, be authentic, lead by example, and above all else have integrity. Even to this day your outreach and support continues to build me. I also want to thank C.H. Robinson for taking a chance on me all those years ago. I learned so much about the industry, customer service and leadership. You’ve given me a firm foundation to move forward. As that chapter in life closes, it allows me to continue to grow and learn. I’m now officially up for grabs and ready to close the next deal. For the past nine years I’ve led several large, high performing sales teams, in a regional model, focused on a "work hard/play hard" culture. Yesterday, I had a chat with a CRO whom I've built a strong connection with over the past year. While I might not be in the running for the title of godfather to any future kids, our relationship has evolved into a genuine friendship. This individual stands out as one of the best pre-revenue GTM sales and revenue leaders in the business. In our professional dynamic, I see our relationship echoing the camaraderie between Jerry Maguire and Rod Tidwell, or for those unfamiliar with the movie, similar to the partnership between Steve Williams and Tiger Woods during his prime (minus the extramarital affairs, of course!) 😂 The crucial point to emphasize is that high-performing sales and revenue leaders can benefit from having a trusted career advisor. The reason for his call yesterday? Sh** hit the fan. It was a real should I stay or should I go moment. I won't delve into all the specifics, but I'll end with this: as a Co-Founder or Executive, be a product of smart hiring choices. Offer proven and trusted sales leaders the freedom and authority to elevate your company.

Team leaders in real estate do you struggle to retain great agents? Too often I see mandates that all sales agents must do. Hold a certain number of open houses each month. Reach a certain number of dials each day. Set a specific number of appointments each day. Door knock. Etc. etc. etc. A good team leader will provide the tools, resources and coaching and allow their agents to do what they do best. I am not saying that you shouldn’t set expectations and goals. But requiring an agent to do something they abhor isn’t productive for you or them. Retaining great agents is something I help team leaders accomplish.
