While I think it’s important to never underestimate the power of being humble, it’s equally as crucial not to ever sell yourself or your skillset short. Practicing humility in leadership positions fosters an environment of openness, trust, and collaboration, but it can also have its downfalls. This HBR article opened my eyes to how finding balance from a personal perspective impacts your professional life as well. The piece discusses the complexities of humble leadership and how it can sometimes hinder a leader's effectiveness due to their reluctance to make decisions without full consensus. You don’t need to be everyone’s friend to be a great leader. Instead, have faith in your expertise and foster a workplace of respect, empowerment, and collaboration.
