Last week, Sam's Town Shreveport celebrated 2023 Team Member of the Month winners at our annual Team Member of the Year Banquet! During this special celebration, the team enjoyed spectacular food, a presentation from leadership, and a drawing for our 2023 Team Member of the Year winner. Congratulations Montreal!👏 As a Team Member of the Year recipient, Montreal received one week PTO, $1,000 cash, and an all-expense paid, weeklong trip for two to Hawaii! Thank you for all your hard work and for always showcasing Boyd Style!

This week’s leadership tip is on End of the Year Recognition – For us it’s about the Holiday Parties! This is huge for us at CITY Furniture, as a way to recognize the incredible work of our associates and have some fun! 🎉 ❤️ This is such a big deal to me because my wife and I love hosting the Corporate Holiday Parties at our home. Yep. We just had two parties at our house for our Corporate Associates, the Sales Team hosts within their stores and among their teams, and the Ops Team has their parties at our 4 warehouses. Unfortunately, I can’t have everyone over at once. Ha. The end of the year offers a perfect opportunity to have holiday parties so that we express our gratitude and love for all of our CITY Fam. When it comes to having the holiday parties at our house, there is nothing like having everyone over our home and breaking bread, sharing a margarita together, eating some good food and having a good time. We don’t do any corporate business stuff. Just pure party! 🥳 However, we do give some raffle prizes for our Suggestion System Winners. Love hanging out with everyone. Such a great group of people! 😊 Love that we make this a major part of our Recognition Strategy for the End of the Year. One of the quickest ways to have folks become compliant with the status quo or to not rock a boat is to give them an award or some other form of reinforcement to increase compliance behaviors. We recall it well from childhood, as we would often do almost anything to get a gold star on an assignment, “Job well done!” Question: what gold star, award (ie, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony, etc) or other keeps you from saying what you need to say - doing what you need to do to make a difference in your small circle of influence (eg, at your job, social organization, family, etc.)? #goldstar #award #differencemakers #carrot #changemakers #operantconditioning

I'm a bee keeper... Did you know that the entire mood of a bee colony depends on the Queen? She controls it with a special pheromone, which unifies the bees in her care. Also, a worker bee will produce 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in their lifetime. To make one pound of honey, workers in a hive fly 55,000 miles and tap two million flowers. Just like in a bee colony, a business or sales teams' success greatly depends on leadership and it's team members ability to work in unity, as well as trust and respect each other. A queen bee can't make honey by herself, neither can one honey bee generate more than 1/12th of a teaspoon.
