As a teaser, here are some things Josh had to say about the recipe for a compelling direct mail appeal: 🔵 Get to the point quickly – ask for a gift in the first few lines 🔵 Repeat the ask often; repetition is your friend 🔵 Tell an incomplete story – ask the donor to make a gift that will facilitate a positive ending 🔵 Summarize the entire letter in the heading and postscript 🔵 Leave your organization out of it; use YOU language, not US or WE language 🔵 Indent your paragraphs and use 13-point font 🔵 The letter should feel like it was written BY one person FOR one person 🔵 Pro Tip: Break the last line on the first page in the middle, so the reader has to flip to page two to finish the thought See how Josh puts it all together in this excellent sample year-end appeal letter: https://lnkd.in/eiJn3RDN Never stop learning, y'all! 🧠
