Thinking about whether or not our emotions are an accurate representation of the world around us and / or are behind our thoughts, reactions and decision making is a necessary conversation to have either with ourselves and / or with others (takes a certain level of emotional maturity or security to do this, but worthwhile). Most don't have a sense of what emotion they are experiencing unless it's extreme. However, we have them all day, every day and they normal and awesome ways to know how we are interpreting and responding to the world around us. Something at one point was new to me when I decided to (funny to say) 'get in touch with my feelings' was that our surface or primary emotion may not be the one we are truly having or needing to feel, access and address. For instance it's much easier to be mad than sad or scared. Check out the feelings wheel to have your emotional horizons expanded. It is a lot to absorb, but worth the effort. The Wheel is divided into primary emotions, secondary emotions, and tertiary emotions. Each layer delves deeper into the nuances of emotional experiences, allowing individuals to pinpoint their feelings with remarkable precision. #complexpeoplefeel #emotionalunderstanding #growthislifechanging
