Someone who has had extreme ownership before: - Started a business before. - launched a new business internally at a company. These would be great profiles providing you meet the below 👇🏼 ⭐ GM - Cross-Border Crypto Payments ⭐ This business is already profitable. Seed stage. You will inherit a small team. Who is the ideal hire? This person needs to understand treasury. Probably FX background - A 'markets' type person that understands exchange control regs, Compliance, Legal etc Stronger you are at legal, the better. Crypto experience would be great but it's secondary to the above (FX and Legal more important). ⭐ GM - Payments Orchestration ⭐ This business is slightly earlier. Pretty much a 0-1 build. Scaling from 1 - 10 in first year. Who's the ideal hire? - Worked at a global PSP (Ideally Orchestration experience) - Someone who can go to a multi-national and sell them payments in 10 market for example. - Bit more of a scrappier profile. Hiring involves both selling and selecting. Most people approach this in completely the wrong order - they focus on selecting first, and selling only later. They build a suboptimal funnel. Which usually creates a rollercoaster of inconsistent results. And then, when their suboptimal funnel eventually manages to produce a "best of the rest" candidate, they go into sales mode to try and convince the person to join. And half the time they end up accepting someone else's offer anyway. Back to the drawing board. That's what happens when you prioritize selection first - you attract people who are openly on the market, so even when you do get someone great, you'll lose most of them to other teams anyway. The smart way is to sell first and select later. Then you build a premium quality funnel which actually converts - consistently. #recruiting #hiring #crypto #web3
