Who We Are Founded in 2006 in response to the devastating Louisiana floods by Rob Gaudet, he recognized that the need to help vulnerable populations after natural disasters is a massively underserved humanitarian crisis in the US. To address it, Cajun Navy Ground Force is a 501c3 nonprofit with five Swift Intervention Programs. These programs work in unison to protect and stabilize the most vulnerable victims with fast and extended care, and swift intervention after natural disasters. Cajun Navy Ground Force Swift Intervention Programs - SAFE Camp, a base camp program - Community Caretaking, a caretaking program - Remote Team, a data-driven operations program - Visual Storytelling, a media program - Swift Intervention Training, a training program that allows us to deploy and direct a large number of volunteers quickly. Here's how they work. After a disaster, we first establish SAFE Camp, short for 'Swift Action Force Emergency Camp' for urgent supply and medical needs and for a safe place to base our teams and volunteers who are beginning Community Caretaking operations. Our Data-Driven Remote Team oversees and manages our deployment operations remotely. We use on-the-ground Visual Storytelling to keep the disaster narrative alive and to drive a citizen-based response. We know the last few weeks have been tough for flood affected communities. It’s why we’re teaming up with the Commonwealth to provide financial support to people from the communities and surrounding homelands of Kalkarindji, Daguragu, Pigeon Hole, Yarralin and Timber Creek. Immediate Hardship Payments include: 🔵 $300 for a children, 🔵 $593 for adults, and 🔵 $1,493 for families We’re also knocking 50% off freight costs for pastoralists and providing emergency grants for community organisations so that the whole community can get back on its feet as quickly as possible. In its final package of funding bills for the current fiscal year: FEMA gets $20.261 for the Disaster Relief Fund and $3.5 billion for its grant programs including -- $468 million for the State Homeland Security Grant Program, of which $81 million is for Operation Stonegarden Grants and $13.5 million is for Tribal Security Grants; $553.5 million for Urban Area Security Initiative; $274.5 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program; $94.5 million for Public Transportation Security Assistance, of which $9 million is for Amtrak and $1.8 million is for Bus Security; $90 million for Port Security Grants; $324 million for Assistance to Firefighters Grants; $324 million for Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants; $319.5 million for Emergency Management Performance Grants; $281.5 million for RiskMAP; $10.8 million for Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grants; $117 million for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program; and $40 million for Next Generation Warning System.  #FEMA #disaster #grants #hurricanes #wildfires
