On the 21st of November, a client I'd worked with exclusively since 2018 asked me to fill three roles for them. 1. Infrastructure Engineer (Never worked one before) 2. Senior .NET developer (Bread and butter role for me) 3. Senior Angular Developer (Worked these roles before but didn't have a big network) Fourteen days after starting, I'd placed an infrastructure engineer. I finished for Christmas on the 19th of December, so with candidates in the process, restarted in January. On 5th January (32 days after starting), the senior .NET role was filled. On 19th January (46 days after starting), the trickier senior Angular dev role was filled with someone who could start immediately. Over the 6.5 weeks I'd worked on the roles, I'd sent 15 CVs. The client had a two-stage process and interviewed 13 of them, filling all the roles from that pool. How does that compare with the PSL you have at the moment? If this is much better than your suppliers deliver, what are you waiting for? Wouldn't you prefer a recruiter who can deliver high-quality, engaged people faster? Wouldn't you like to enjoy it instead of being gripped with an icy dread every time you know you have to recruit? I just received this nonsense in my direct message. They're looking for a linear Senior Developer with " at least 8-15 years' experience in software engineering". What are these people on? Qualified professionals with 15 years of experience don't work as Senior developers; they lead and manage teams/departments, and later on in their careers, they're responsible for the budget and revenue. What does this requirement even mean? I have to stay for 15 years in the same role as an Angular developer (as they say), FOR 15 YEARS? If that's a requirement, I bet they pay with cookies and free coffee in the office. Of course, some people stay in hard-coding roles for 15-20+ years, but these people are highly paid professionals, and their roles are never "senior developers." These are the people the business asks to solve complex specific issues or define project technical architecture with business-domain specifics... None of them will accept the generic-paid role of a "senior developer" in a generic company that doesn't even bother to attract candidates with high paychecks. You won't find that much comedy anywhere like you will find it while looking for a job. Clownery is basically in 50% of jobs. 🤡 🤡 🤡
