#drugrepurposing as applied in #SIMPATHIC is so important, considering the need for therapies for #rarediseases, as also discussed at #IDR24 next week in Barcelona

The EU-funded Project SIMPATHIC consists of 22 international partners spread across Europe and Canada, including patient organizations, patient training organizations, academic centers, research infrastructures, and companies. #SIMPATHIC is the abbreviation for "accelerating #drugrepurposing for rare neurological, neurometabolic and neuromuscular disorders by exploiting SIMilarities in clinical and molecular PATHology”. What does that mean exactly? The researchers focus on expediting the drug repurposing process and enhancing every aspect of it. The goal is to make it faster, ensure that drugs reach patients as swiftly as possible and increase patients’ well-being. Save the Date: April 9-11, 2025 12th Annual Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation Conference International Consensus on Research Priorities The upcoming Annual Conference is a unique opportunity for patients and caregivers to sit side-by-side with experts in the field and provide their voices in helping focus research priorities. It is an effort between CCF’s International Cholangiocarcinoma Research Network (ICRN) and the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST)-Action: BTC Precision Network, part of the European Network for the Study of Cholangiocarcinoma. The initiative brings together patients, caregivers, advocates, oncologists, researchers, industry, young investigators, regulators, and other specialists worldwide to review scientific evidence, share insights, and reach a consensus, or full agreement, on the research focus going forward to optimize existing funding and attract new funding. Research and clinical studies are part of the foundation of our work at Brainlab and are essential to advancing healthcare. That's why Brainlab teamed up with Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron as clinical research partners. Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron is the biggest hospital in Catalonia, Spain and has fantastic research and pediatric departments. This allows us to gather vital data on treating children using our technology. This clinical cooperation began last year and together we have been researching anatomical mapping in lesion and cranial landmark detection for the development of functions such as tumor segmentation. We have already been able to collect data on 140 pediatric cases on top of a multitude of adult cases. I publish this post to show that research can also be done in Calabria. And it is important to let people know that 4 of the researchers who contributed to this project and who are collaborating on other projects are able to carry out their work thanks to the funding that the national AIL and the AIL section of Reggio Calabria/Vibo Valentia make available to us. AIL remains fundamental to the care of our patients. Thank you AIL and thank you to all who contribute so that AIL supports us Our experience suggests that a preserving approach with TKI associated to low-dose chemotherapy can be the optimal bridging therapy prior to CAR-T and that an “MRD-guided” and “TKI-based” maintenance strategy can represent the best choice for Ph + ALL which satisfactorily responds to CAR-T.
