🙌📚 Let’s talk about high-dosage tutoring. #ThursdayThoughts Research by the Annenberg Institute at Brown University has shown that high-impact tutoring can lead to large learning gains for students who have fallen behind academically. Furthermore, it can take elementary school students up to three years and middle school students up to five years to recover and get back on track from the pandemic’s impact on learning loss. In addition, research by EdResearch for Action demonstrated that remediation or a simplified curriculum can result in students falling FURTHER behind. 🤔 To prevent this, tutors can support school districts by providing high-dosage tutoring to help students to catch up, all while allowing their classroom teachers to maintain the pace of their instruction. As ESSER dollars come to an end, educators and policy leaders foresee the need to scale back. One area where many advocate costs shouldn’t be cut due to its effectiveness in helping students catch up academically, a crucial need given the learning disruptions caused by the pandemic? High-dosage tutoring. A recent article from EdTrust dives into this proven intervention and why districts should be focusing their efforts on high-impact tutoring post-pandemic.
