Ancient Greek pre-Socratic philosopher from Miletus in Ionia, Asia Minor. Thales' unforgettable saying goes: "Not everyone loves wisdom, but everyone wants the benefits that wisdom brings." Thales' quote emphasizes the importance of wisdom, stating that although not everyone appreciates wisdom, the benefits of having knowledge are generally everyone's desire. Thales' most well-known idea is that the water element is a fundamental principle, which can be summarized as "Water is the basis of everything." This philosophical view is one of Thales' important contributions to the field of natural philosophy. We do not have clear information about Thales' death. Detailed life information about ancient figures is often vague and in many cases can be confused with legends. Since we do not have exact data about Thales' life and death, there is no definitive information about how he died. Born:c. 626/623 BCMiletus, Ionian League (modern-day Balat, Didim, Aydın, Turkey) Diedc. 548/545 BC (aged c. 78)

[PDF] The Forging of Israel: Iron Technology, Symbolism, and Tradition in Ancient Society (JSOT Supplement) Paula M. McNutt digsell In this rich and elegantly presented interdisciplinary study, the theme is the impact of iron technology on the material and cultural life of ancient Israel. The author argues that iron itself and the processes of ironworking functioned as dominant cultural symbols, conveying meanings about significant transformations that established Israel’s social and religious identity. This wide-ranging monograph is particularly valuable for its integration of material about iron working in traditional African societies, anthropological theories on symbolism and archaeological information on the development of iron technology in the Near East. https://lnkd.in/eQ4Z-Gq6
