Super interesting report by Accenture Song. The chapter on 'changing life goals' resonates so much. "Go to school, get a job, climb the career ladder, get married, buy a home, have a family, and save for a stable retirement." In reality many people are rethinking and crafting different paths for themselves though or external factors are prohibiting them from reaching these goals. I think this is creating an interesting challenge for many brands who are used to pigeonholing consumers into neat boxes. The 'Life Trends 2024' report suggest that companies should "Understand the new priorities and life milestones of your target demographics by revisiting market research, user journeys, and customer mindsets using the data to adjust marketing strategies." I think it's a good first step, but what else do companies need to do in order to stay relevant, make people feel understood and achieve their business goals?

This year, Accenture surveyed over 15K respondents globally and identified emerging digital trends and actions for businesses to take in 2024, via crowdsourced insight from Accenture Song’s global network of designers, creatives, technologists, sociologists and anthropologists. Headline: Half of people globally are significantly altering their life goals, prioritizing job stability and retirement more than marriage or getting a college degree, and another 48% of people make plans for their lives less than 12 months ahead, or don’t plan at all.
