Publicis is positioning its bets on #generativeAI as part of a transformation into the industry’s first “intelligent system”. Publicis Groupe will invest 300 million euros over the next three years to better position its business around generative #AI, one of the most significant agency bets on the technology to date. The investment will support an in-house platform called CoreAI that draws on troves of Publicis #data, including 2.3 billion consumer profiles from Epsilon, Publicis Sapient, CitrusAd, Profitero and Marcel. CoreAI will aid in five service areas: insights generation, media planning and buying, creative and production, software and operations. “Becoming an intelligent system will allow us, thanks to AI, to connect all of our enterprise knowledge,” said CEO Arthur Sadoun during a presentation to investors and the press. other #advertising agencies are also racing to improve their #genAI know-how and services: WPP last year struck a pact with NVIDIA around the development of an AI-powered #content engine and others, like dentsu, have recently ramped up their bets in the sector.

Thanks to Pinterest, IMAA - Independent Media Agencies Australia & Accenture for hosting last week's discussion on the impact of Gen AI across the media landscape (+ Half Dome for the call up). Here are 5 key takeaways I made from the session: 🤖 Generative AI is transformative but can become a risky distraction if efforts aren't focused correctly. 🔐 Privacy, security and legal issues are often misunderstood. Training and setting guidelines can help teams to avoid inadvertently breaching privacy regulation, client NDAs and leaking sensitive IP. 🤝 A more coordinated and collaborative industry approach could help smaller, more nimble independent agencies and brands to compete with the resources of larger competitors. Industry groups like the IMAA become essential for coordinating the future imo. 😵💫 The use-cases for AI in media are vast but this can make it overwhelming to navigate. Change will happen gradually from lots of small, boring 1% changes over-time that will make it harded to notice. Media companies like Hatched and Seed Advertising & Media Consultancy shared some great experiences and learnings. Now isn't the time to be complacent. 🔌 Human skills, IP and relationships are a competitive advantage now and in the future. Understand where your team's capacity and capabilities are strained and then work backwards to size up use-cases where AI can save time, money and help your team do more of what they’re best at.
