my procedures are designed to provide obstacle protection for departing aircraft. There are two types of Departure Procedures (DPs): Obstacle Departure Procedures (ODPs) and Standard Instrument Departures (SIDs). Hand calculation is simple. (groundspeed / 60) x feet per nautical mile = feet per minute destroyed yellow fuck it

Essential for every HVLAS: The Wave-Off Button The purpose of the Wave-Off Button (WOB) is to allow persons on board involved in flight operations to inform the helicopter crew and all persons on board of a potentially dangerous situation. For this purpose, the WOB provides two safety signal functions in one panel. In the Wave-Off function, it provides an easy-to-use and safe method of signalling to the helicopter that it is unsafe to land. The second function is the SWITCH OFF mode (power off) for the REFUELING system as a separate button on the same control panel. Both functions can only be deactivated by the flight deck officer or the watch officer/captain on the bridge. As per the SOLAS regulations, Chapter V , the manning requirements for MODUs' main engine rooms are well-defined to ensure safe operations and adherence to international standards. 1️⃣ Manned Engine Rooms: A qualified engineer should be present in the main engine room at all times during navigation. Their expertise and experience are crucial in operating and maintaining the machinery on board. 2️⃣ Unmanned Engine Rooms: When the main engine room is not continuously manned, remote monitoring and control systems should be in place to enable real-time information about the engine room's status and prompt identification of any potential issues. 3️⃣ Competency and Qualifications: Personnel assigned to the engine room must possess the necessary competency, training, and qualifications according to flag state requirements and regulations. #OffshoreDrilling #MaritimeSafety #SOLASRegulations #Safety #HSE

There are instances where we are asked, quite reasonably, who is the MTCS ROV High Voltage Course suitable for? The initial answer is any person required to maintain or repair a work class ROV, Plough or Trencher that operate on voltages in excess of 1KV AC/1.5KV DC. As small inspection ROVs typically tend not to operate on high voltage electricity, participation in a high voltage course is generally not required. However, they may operate on voltages that are still considered to be dangerous and we consider completing this course to be an advantage to any ROV operator. Working with high voltage systems is inherently hazardous, and the best defence against incidents is a thorough understanding of safe working practice. You can read more here on the MTCS website: https://lnkd.in/eJE_Qiwz #ROV #ROVtraining #ROVhighvoltage #offshore #subsea #highvoltage #highvoltagetraining

Last January, I started working as a Researcher at TNO Naval and Offshore Structures. In this position, I am mainly concerned with investigating the effect of shock loading caused by non-contact underwater explosions (UNDEX). For this purpose, TNO has developed three specialized UNDEX shock test machines; the TNO light-weight vertical shock machine (LVSM); the TNO medium-weight vertical shock machine (MVSM); and the TNO heavy-weight horizontal shock machine (HHSM). The vertical machines capable of providing shock loading above 400g and the horizontal machine capable of extremely large payloads of up to 10 tonnes. Testing goes beyond simply handling and installing the equipment on the machines. For example, rather than relying on pre-tuned settings, for each test the machines are carefully fine-tuned to get as close as possible to the customer’s requirements. In this way, we strive not to over-test the equipment. This is particularly important for resiliently mounted systems where the input displacement becomes more important than the acceleration input and needs to be controlled to the mm. Moreover, during testing we also measure, at several locations, the input of the shock machine and the structural response of the equipment under test. This is complimented by the use of high speed video so the customer receives as much information as possible from each test. This information is transmitted in a full test report, where the data is post-processed to show all responses both in the time domain (acceleration, velocity and displacement) and, when applicable, also using the Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) approach. Our lab also has the facilities to perform vibration tests. For this purpose, we have an LDS V8-440 electrodynamic shaker but also we have developed our own TNO Hydraulic Shaker, which is capable of testing objects up to ~5000kg to well-known Naval vibration standards, such as, MIL-STD-167A. Offering both shock and vibration testing as a complete package, under the same roof, is something that therefore makes our lab extra special. What I particular enjoy about my position at TNO is the variety of work. One minute I'm sitting at my computer processing data while the next I'm tinkering, sweating, to get our machines ready for the next tests. Moreover, our customer base extends all over the world and it’s great to work with engineers from different countries, knowing the work has international impact!
