In the wake of #HurricaneBeryl's push through #Galveston and then #Houston, an estimated 1.6 million are still without power in sweltering temperatures where the heat index is more than 100 degrees. Among those without power are members of the RYZE Claim Solutions team who live in Houston. The utility companies are working hard to restore power, but it may take days to get everyone electricity due to the damage Beryl caused. Here's a good story from #HoustonPublicMedia about the situation. The photo below is also from Houston Public Media: https://lnkd.in/g9-jWAyv RYZE stands with everyone in the Houston region and beyond who is recovering from Beryl. RYZE is ready to do all we can to help our clients and their policyholders recover from this storm. We urge everyone to take safety precautions during cleanup. 👩🚒 The Smokehouse Creek Fire in the Panhandle of #Texas has surged to a staggering 1.1 million acres, now the second largest wildfire in U.S. history. In just this week across multiple fires, Texas has witnessed approximately 1.3 million acres scorched – more land than some states – surpassing the cumulative total of the last 5 years of Texas #wildfires. 👨🚒 🔥 Though the region is far from Texas' major population centers, the largely uncontained #wildfire has still proven devastating for those in the Panhandle with a confirmed fatality, destroyed property, toxic air quality, and major power disruptions. #climatechange is projected to make wildfire seasons longer, more destructive, and harder to manage using traditional wildfire #response methods. 🚒 To prepare for a future with more destructive wildfires, proactive business leaders should: 1. Assess and mitigate #risks 2. Train employees on how to prepare and respond 3. Plan for #business disruptions 4. Review #insurance coverage 5. Be #crisis ready

#UnitedStates: Amid record breaking February temperatures and high winds the #SmokehouseCreek #wildfire, presently burning in the #Texas Panhandle, became the 2nd largest in state history (since at least 1984). By the afternoon of February 28, the fire had impacted an astonishing 850,000+ acres over the span of two days. The fire prompted thousands of evacuations. A disaster declaration was enacted for at least 60 counties as several fires were ongoing. Initial reports indicated dozens of homes were damaged or destroyed in and near the towns of Canadian, Fritch, and Stinnett alone. The East Amarillo Complex fire currently holds the Texas record for largest fire. The complex impacted more than 907,000 acres in March 2006. The maps below show the extent and location of Texas wildfires which reached 100,000 acres or greater in size since 1984, according to data from MTBS and NIFC.

🌀 As hurricane season reaches its peak, the urgency to ensure safety and resilience grows. With meteorologists projecting an above-normal season fueled by unprecedented ocean temperatures, the Southeast and Eastern Seaboard brace themselves for the challenge. Julia Schimmelpenningh, Architectural Industry Technical Manager at Eastman Chemical Company, highlights the dual hurdles faced by consumers and suppliers in adopting hurricane-resistant products. While regulations mandate protection, understanding requirements and cost-benefit scenarios remain pivotal. Recent legislation, like Florida's tax exemption for impact-resistant windows and doors, not only supports homeowners' investments but also saves lives. Let's collaborate to reinforce our communities against the stormy odds. 🏠🌀 #HurricaneSafety #ResilienceMatters #CommunityStrong #ceos #power100 #thebestofthebest #nationalpowerrankings

The fact that Florida has only about 150k without power a day after landfall of a major hurricane is a testament to the value of having robust pole inspection and treatment standards in place, along with other grid hardening initiatives. Comparing the performance of their grid pre and post implementation of these standards is revealing. Many state regulatory entities would do well to study the history here.#osmose#resiliency#woodploes

𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐥'𝐬 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐫𝐥 Seventeen 55-gallon contractor bags, three 13-gallon kitchen bags and a week later, I certify BorMik Island recovered from Beryl. Although we endured 52+ hours of no electricity and internet, we were very lucky and blessed compared to others. Our property sustained no damage and we are all safe and sound. However, my 83 year old mother still has no power over a week later! More than 2.7 million power outages were reported at the height of a 𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙣𝙚 hurricane! Today, there are still nearly 300,000 people (including my mother) without power just from CenterPoint alone. One can only imagine the devastation a major hurricane could bring our region. The power failures are a direct result of years of failed and disastrous leadership in Texas government, ERCOT, and the major power providers in our state. There is no incentive for proper maintenance, needed upgrades, and reliability (recall the 2011 Groundhog Day Blizzard that affected 3.2 million customers in Texas). Please Texas voters: Hold them accountable by starting with our elected officials from the governor to the legislature. This has been going on for far too long in our state! #texas #texasgovernment #electricity #poweroutage #poweroutages #ercot #texaspuc #failedleadership #leader #leaders #leadership #texas
