Here I am, filled with passion and excitement and ready for new challenges. I found my passion in the harmonious marriage of technology and construction problem-solving since my master's thesis. It's been a fascinating journey so far, a symphony of gears and girders, pixels and plaster, creating a crescendo of innovation that has become my framework. My love for the interplay of Art, Tech, and Construction management has been a powerful north star, illuminating my path, and shaping my journey. Today, I find myself standing at a thrilling crossroads where these three worlds converge. Like a captivating jigsaw puzzle falling into place, my experiences' disparate dots are connecting and the picture is being crystal clear. My journey so far has been filled with insightful stints in construction, daring ventures into design, and a role in an audacious tech project that dared to dream. These experiences have only reinforced my conviction that the technological wave is not just washing over the industry, it's reinventing it. Brimming with a passion for problem-solving through technology, armed with a knack for designing systems, and fortified by a rich background in construction, I can feel the road ahead beckoning me. It's a path paved by the promise of boundless opportunities. I am definitely taking this leap of faith and all I seek now is a dose of courage to dive headlong into my niche, the fortitude to tackle the challenges that lie ahead, and the perseverance to stay the course. It's a form of support that empowers us to chart our learning and growth. "Scaffolding gives you the support to figure it out." - Adam Grant 🌱 In construction, it's a temporary structure enabling workers to reach heights otherwise impossible. 🏗 In learning, it's when a teacher or coach provides initial guidance and then steps back, allowing the learner to develop their own approach—walking their unique path! 🏗 🏔 These 'human scaffolds' mirror 'the helper' in the hero's journey. "During the early stages, the hero receives aid from a protective figure, often given a protective amulet or weapon." 🤝 Remember, even the most successful individuals had support: 🔑 David Goggins had Sargeant Jack. 🔑 Marc Brackett had Uncle Marvin. 🔑 Adam Grant had John Gierak. 🔑 Luke Skywalker had Yoda. 🔑 Frodo had Gandalf and many others I've had many scaffolds in my life, too many to name. While people can't build our bridge, when we embark on our journey, scaffolds emerge. So, who were your scaffolds? 🤔

Today marks a significant milestone: one year since I started my journey at Fischer Homes. Reflecting on the past 12 months, I am filled with gratitude for the invaluable experiences and lessons I've gained in the dynamic world of homebuilding. From day one, I've been immersed in learning opportunities, and I’m proud to say that each challenge has been met with enthusiasm and determination. Last week, I had the opportunity to speak with the John Deere Construction Team at an off-site planning event. I talked about one of my favorite subjects: Elite Teams! Over the course of the past 25 years, I've been fortunate enough to be on a few truly ELITE teams. I've also been unfortunate enough to be on teams that just didn't reach their potential. I enjoy sharing what I've learned and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. Books have been written about 'Teams' and 'Teamwork', and a simple post doesn't do it justice. There are so many things these elite teams do, and don't do. From habits or behaviors to traits or characteristics...the list is long. But...it's not really complicated. ELITE Teams all have a high level of TRUST. Teams that fail always have a lack of trust. It's simple...but not easy. How do you build trust? That's another question and a much longer answer. I'll admit, my first thought was, "Have I bitten off more than I can chew?" There we were, progress grinding to a halt, staring at a problem that threatened to swallow our budget whole. It wasn’t just a minor setback; it was the kind of curveball that makes you question your choices. But here's how we turned the tide, not just saving the project but making it something special: - Bringing in the Cavalry I swallowed my pride, reached out to a structural engineer. It was a lesson in humility – recognising when you need help and asking for it. - Revamping the Plan Together, we didn't just fix the issue; we transformed it into a unique feature of the property. It was about making lemonade out of some really sour lemons. - Embracing the Learning Curve This experience was a masterclass in resilience and adaptability. It taught me more about property development than any smooth project ever could. The end result? We didn’t just salvage the project; we elevated it.
