They try to make it seem like its noble to seek employees who have a passion for the work & not the money. They just don’t want to pay. Whereas another trick that actually works is to pay the employee enough that they can worry about finances less and their employer/work more. They won’t post what they aren’t proud of. No salary range = non applicable

I note that no one is decrying the HR department for their “unprofessionalism” in sending such a butt-hurt rejection letter including pull quotes. No generic “we have decided to move on with other candidates,” no sanitised “we were disturbed by your lack of decorum,” just straight up “YOU HURT OUR FEE-FEES BY SAYING WE ARE CHEAP.” The corporation worship is strong in this forum.

😆 - not the best interview tactics here… but it’s always funny to me when a for profit business acts like it’s not about money… if it wasn’t about money become a nonprofit. 😁

The level of disrespect at the HR department has reached new heights. I will be happy when everything is automated and the those individuals lose their employment and return to where they belong. To the bakery.

The reason I'm applying to a position is always money. If I didn't need money I'd work on stuff I actually like to do without pressure – music, woodworking, planting tomatoes, chilling on a hammock having a drink, cooking... you know, stuff that doesn't involve Jira and/or VSCode. Hiring managers and company leaders need to get over it.

The whole secrecy and stigma around money and salaries is a joke, it creates inequality in the workplace where two employees doing the same work are being paid differently and allows employees to play that game ... salary talks should happen , I work because i want to get paid to secure my well-being and my future let's talk how we can mutually exchange my time , skills and knowledge for $ so that i can have that, oh you don't talk about that ... I guess you don't care about me , my needs and my future why would I care about you ... goodbye.

Being rude is not an excuse, but I am with this person. There's nothing bad in "applying just for the money". We all need to pay bills. And yes, going through 4 or 5 interview rounds to learn the budget is much lower than what you are looking for can be a waste of time. But again, you can turn this "waste of time" into a meaningful relation. There's no need to be rude.

I think if we are all being honest a significant percentage of people view money as . . table stakes . . I will assume and perhaps I am wrong on this that for many it doesn't matter how wonderful the culture is, how often they have pizza fridays and on and on if the wage does not allow for the applicant to pay their bills and have some left over for whatever the opportunity being presented will quickly lose its appeal . . . so in the interest of ensuring that you encourage the best profile of candidate to apply . . . provide a tight salary wage. STOP wasting the time and money of others.

It's a law in California if there's over 15 employees to state the pay rate. If the recruiter pings me out of the blue then usually they don't where I live, they have not bothered to read my LinkedIn profile or wherever they found me, they spend little to zero time reading my skillset matrix. Usually the 4-10 phone calls at odd hours is a dead giveaway. The constant "bubbling up" emails until I block them is the norm. I don't know why you guys care about what the recruiter thinks if they're going to act that way.
