Someone said: "Why is everyone complaining there aren't any jobs available? I am seeing lots of jobs being posted..." Let's look at those job postings, shall we? "Contract HR Position 3-6 months duration - $25 per hour" "Bilingual HR Manager with Payroll Processing experience - $50k annually" "HR Generalist - Must be familiar with (laundry list of higher-level HR tasks) $45k annually" "HR Coordinator - 3-5 years of experience required - $18 per hour" "Experienced Recruiter - $40K annually (no commissions or bonuses mentioned in the posting" These are examples of actual recent HR job postings in the greater Grand Rapids, MI area. Employers want senior level HR candidates for entry level or mid-level pay. The competition is brutal for anything that is reasonably close to market wages, and if a position is posted as Remote or Hybrid, you are up against many candidates with excellent qualifications. Yes, there are jobs being posted. But when you are a Senior Level person, with a top notch resume and years of experience, $50k for a Bilingual HR Manager position (who will probably also be processing Payroll) is not worth even applying for most candidates. Businesses, you get what you pay for. If you want an experienced, Senior Level Professional, pay what they are worth. Or else you will continually cycle through marginally qualified people who aren't adding value to your company.
