Tide Super Bowl video ad - It's a Tide Ad (2018) The goal behind this strategy was to get everyone who was watching the Super Bowl to think about Tide whenever they saw clean clothes in other commercials, this way everyone would think of Tide every time they saw another commercial that wasn't even about laundry detergent. This would mainly spark conversation among friends in-person and online, talking about how every commercial at the Super Bowl was a Tide commercial, and they would also discuss the genius of the campaign itself, earning more awareness from those who didn't even see the commercial, such as marketing/advertising students. #InnovativeContent2024 https://lnkd.in/ggbhFr3e

Does anyone else think #HellmannsMayo completely missed on their #superbowl ad? Here's why I think they missed it ⬇️ Why do you think over 16 million people call out of work the day after the #superbowl? Because they're hungover. Hellmann's Mayo just didn't convince me to wake up the next morning hungover, call out of work, and have the desire to eat mayonnaise the next day. The cat saying "meo-yo" was very clever and cute, but the rest? Too corporate, too cute, and not enough to relate to the audience; over 16 million hungover people that want to eat their leftovers. There's not even mention of Super Bowl leftover recipes on their social media, or website. No tagged influencer content, no UGC, no nothing. They lost the opportunity for me to want to door dash some mayo to the house (because I'm too hungover to want to drive) and use some #HellmannsMayo to make a meal out of leftovers. I mean, at least make the connection on social media through low-cost sourced UGC, or share recipe blogs on how to include mayo to create delicious meals with your Super Bowl leftovers. Not relatable or memorable, just a huge miss and a great example of playing it safe and not having fun. The granddaddy of all advertising events is just around the corner. And the brands involved, their message, positioning, and creativity are always a tremendous real-world study in marketing strategy. One of particular interest for me is Bud Light after a botched Dylan Mulvaney partnership (which was indeed a study in what NOT to do). The teaser for their big game ads is linked below. Day 18/20: Ads that tell a Story: Remember that epic Budweiser Brewing Company APAC ad from the 2013 Super Bowl? The one with the Clydesdale horse and the rancher? Well, it officially won the title of the greatest Super Bowl commercial in 2020. Isn't it crazy how animal stories just hit differently? The ad unfolds the Clydesdale's journey from a cute lil' foal to joining the iconic Budweiser team. There's this bittersweet moment when the rancher, who raised the horse, feels a bit let down because the Clydesdale doesn't recognize him in a parade. But hold your tears—classic spoiler alert—this majestic creature chases down the rancher's car in the end. I don't know why but alcohol brands sure know how to create a compelling ad (never actually related to alcohol itself). It's like they're competing with Hollywood!
