Authentically Catholic | Grateful Husband and Father | Entrepreneur | Joy Dealer | Major Gift Officer at the University of Mary
I can't reach out to this potential donor yet, I haven't done enough research.... Schedule the visit. 📆 It is easy to get wrapped up in "needing to know enough" before picking up the phone to schedule a visit. 📞 Certainly, for major gifts, you want to have some indication they could have the capacity to move your mission forward in a significant way before reaching out. Get in front of them and ask good questions. Let them tell their own story. #majorgifts #joydealer #valuablevisits

Individuals from minoritized racial and ethnic groups continue to face systemic barriers that impede their ability to access, persist, and thrive in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM) higher education and workforce. Without actively dismantling policies and practices that disadvantage people from minoritized groups, STEMM organizations stand to lose much needed talent and innovation as well as the ideas that come from having a diverse workforce. A new report from the Board on Behavioral, Cognitive, and Sensory Sciences examines the backdrop of systemic racism in the United States that has harmed and continues to harm people from minoritized groups, which is critical for understanding the unequal representation in STEMM. The report outlines actions that top leaders and gatekeepers in STEMM organizations, such as presidents and chief executive officers, can take to foster a culture and climate of antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion that is genuinely accessible and supportive to all. This is well written publication on the subject. https://lnkd.in/eNjjH5Bv

Did you know that dogs are tuned in to our baby talk? 🗣️👶 It’s true! New research from the Department of Ethology, Eötvös Loránd University, the Research Centre for Natural Sciences and the Eötvös Loránd Research Network reveals that dog’s brains react more to ‘exaggerated prosody’, the high-pitched, sing-song tones we naturally use with animals and babies. In our program, we refer to it as using your ‘princess voice’. Do you use a “cute-sie” voice with your pups? #HumanAnimalBond #DogTraining #DogTrainingTips #DogTrainer #ForceFreeTraining #NonProfit

Professional Speaker, Design Consultant for Historic Theatres, Commercial and Residential, Author/Illustrator
1moThanks Dick for a great article highlighting some of my personal favorites! I grew up going to the Eagle Theatre, some of my earliest memories are of my mom Sally taking me to see movies there and telling me how movies were made, I decided that I wanted to make movies sitting in the Eagle with my mom! Now a half century later I was a historic theatre consultant for Vidiots, and did the temporary marquee "facelift"! How wonderful for OXY to have TWO classic historic theatres in close proximity, Vidiot's Eagle Theatre and the Bob Baker Marionette Theater, alive and thriving!
