The way we seal up the junction between the wall elevation and the roof elevation here in south Devon. The carefully trimmed hanging slates are what’s known as ‘Rangers’ down here or gable slates in other counties / countries. I may be bias but I think it’s the most aesthetically pleasing way to overcome this detail, not to mention, maintenance-free and of course completely weather proof. I’m intrigued to know what others think…? #rangers #westcountry #listedbuilding #architect #surveyor #heritage #roofer #gable #naturalslate #recycle #detail
Very nice, never seen that before - I ought to visit Devon!
Tidy work…what are they fixed into please some type of timber wall plate ?
Very nice
Quite a generous overhang of verge slates. Is that necessary as more subject to wind uplift?
Very tidy👍😎. A lot better than plastic🤔 will not fade and will always look quality👍.
Lovely bit of slate work there Russel, 👏
Does it chatter when it’s windy?
Time consuming but worth it ,very good 👏 👏👍🏻☺️
The all important #giveashitfactor 👏👌 Stunning detail! Would love to see a sketch as to how they’re affixed 🙏 Lovely workmanship. Thanks for sharing.

2dI really enjoy this type of detailing, love to see it being installed. Really well done. It is in this light that we here at Mayan introduced our preformed natural slate verge product, I know it’s a cheat but it’s a way for architects and non heritage roofers to easily introduce this type of detailing, once again, great to see it.
