As we celebrate the amazing creativity awarded at #CannesLions, I was reminded that it was, simultaneously the 7th #showyourstripes day. A stark & terrifying reminder of our warming planet. So, I am wondering how do we get the best of creative minds, behind bold and brave partners who are challenging the status quo rather than those that help perpetuate this crisis? #purposeful is what #purposeful does. Another area of #climateadaptation investments. #wildfireprevention. The Climate Adaptation Project will post one startup each week as an example of the areas and solutions that are already investable in this blind spot of climate tech investments. Richard Delevan Ivonne Briceño Albert Bielinko
#globalwarming did lead to a massively increased risk of #wildfires. Wildfire detection and monitoring from space. This is what OroraTech does. The sooner we understand the development and spread of wildfires, the better we can prepare and fight against them. This #EarthMonth we are spotlighting trailblazing funds and fund managers that are driving a more inclusive energy transition. Brahm Rhodes, Juliana Garaizar, and Kerry Bowie, co-GPs of Malaika Ventures, invest in extraordinary founders using a climate justice lens to achieve a rapid and just energy transition. The #vc firm operates at the intersection of climate, innovation, and inclusion. The team blends deep experience and networks in climate, technology, accelerators, and early-stage investing to open doors for founders. Several years ago, Bowie founded Browning the Green Space, a coalition committed to advancing #dei in clean energy. The group found a home for their meetings at Greentown Labs in Somerville, MA, which Garaizar was connected to as she was working to launch the organization’s Houston incubator. Rhodes was a coach for Bowie's Majira Project, a nonprofit accelerator program. We’re proud to spotlight these #VCI alumni as they deploy capital to infuse the climate movement with resources and justice alike. #climatetech #justtransition #energytransition #climateinvesting #greentech #diversityandinclusion #impactinvesting #esg #fundmanagers #venturecapital #DiversityInVC #ImpactinAction #emergingmanagers #alternateinvestments

I'm absolutely excited to embark on a new journey that combines the thrill of addressing pressing #globalchallenges with the transformative power of #climateaction, #socialequity, and effective #governance, all while fostering tangible economic growth for both businesses and nations. In collaboration with Faraz Khan MBE, we've remained vocal champions of #ESG and #sustainability initiatives, shedding light on the concept of impact investment and the occasional elusiveness of its practical implementation. These discussions have resonated with governments, businesses, and investors across the board. However, more often than not, they've remained confined to the realm of conversation, lacking substantive action. This has been a common observation in the diverse countries I've had the privilege to work in throughout my career. Our esteemed colleague and friend, Irfan Muneer, prompted both Faraz and me to recognize that the causes we are so passionate about are not just urgent but profoundly important. The real challenge, as he astutely pointed out, lies in identifying pragmatic and feasible pathways to translate advocacy into tangible action. This is precisely where the journey of SpectrEco commenced, and in just a short span of a couple of years, it has evolved into a global venture with even more extensive expansion prospects on the horizon. At the heart of SpectrEco's mission is the commitment to simplify the #sustainability journey for investors, businesses, and governments alike. We leverage the synergistic potential of human expertise and artificial intelligence to deliver actionable solutions that catalyze positive change. SpectrEco has pioneered an Economic Augmentation Framework, a Sprint-Driven Delivery Model, cutting-edge Technology, and a robust Data Set. These resources are instrumental in facilitating the transition of businesses, investors, and governments onto a sustainable path, harmoniously aligned with their core objectives, particularly inclusive economic prosperity. I'm eagerly looking forward to this next chapter, and I wholeheartedly extend an invitation to you to join us on this impactful and transformative journey. #ImpactInvestment #SpectrEco #GlobalImpact #TheTransition Adamjee Aftab Jed Linsider Shaista Ayesha Andrew Brewer Qudsia Sajjeed Matriarch Ventures Sustainadility SEED Ventures Spectra Holdings

Good read
I enjoyed giving my💡to Sifted on this. Climentum Capital being a HardTech climate fund focused on 🏭 industrial B2B spaces, it's nice to be able to put forward some companies that don't fit ⛔ the traditional VC mold. Being active with our first fund for the 2nd year in the Nordics, it is clear to me that one of our original investment hypotheses holds true: there are many great early stage climate tech companies in the Nordics with the potential to bring sustainable solutions deep into the large industrial heartland of Europe and beyond 🌍 Thanks Sadia Nowshin for reaching out! Independent Pracademic for a world where organisations flourish by serving long-term wellbeing for all (sustainability)
3wA vital question Rupen Desai - one we need to be front and centre of all creative work at this pivotal moment for humanity. For me it seems clear that THE problem at the centre needs to be 'how can use use #creativity within business to align our decisions at all levels with #LongTermWellbeingForAll (#Sustainability)'. This is what we want to grow. This HAS to be done in a way that creates/regenerates financial and other capital resources to enable this impact to GROW (and ensure no harm to these resources). The problem is NOT how can we use creativity to GROW as money as possible and do some good on the side OR how do we 'balance' profit and positive impact. Unless we shift, our results will continue to be underwhelming, emissions will keep rising. It is time to break the #BAU box, face the #REALREALITY and free our creativity. This still feels a controversial sentiment to say out loud but surely its this or lose the market #economy and become a command-and-control economy where creativity will be caged? (and this is the emerging consensus on what #governing for good could look like in practice: https://lnkd.in/eC-KTKJy )
