Let me start by saying that I love The Container Store. The recent news about their plummeting sales and rock-bottom stock price surprised me, so I stopped by to see what the hubbub was about. I found exactly what I needed and some things I wanted. At the register, I was engaged quickly and friendly with the first question being "do you mind an e-receipt?". No, I don't mind it. Then they handed me a small mobile device to type my email address into to connect to their loyalty program. Why are we using mobile devices when we have perfectly good cash register? Have you all noticed this? Also, I was asked if I want a bag. Really? So I should walk out with an arm full of misc items with no bag? Totally understand why Trader Joes might not see a huge upside in offering Direct-to-Consumer/Customer (DTC) Delivery for their retail products business, even though customers would probably love it! it would offer a sales windfall (at least initially), and likely even greater brand loyalty, sales consistency, and overall revenue... ALTERNATIVE CONCEPT: Why not support development of a strategic partner or set of partners, operating as a customer-service solution-oriented employee-owned co-op. A strategically affiliated independently owned company. Update on “perfecting our delivery experience” Results are stable at around the 7% increase in conversions and our customers are loving the fact that they’re getting their products even faster: - Customers receiving their 3rd order in under 3 business days are projected to have a $177 higher LTV - Other customers receiving their orders in 3-7 business days saw a $65 increase in CLV But here are some of the other tests we’re running (that you should be running too) - First-time shoppers: we gave them a special discount that increased CVR by 4.5% - Second-time shoppers: Optimizing for shipping revenue & delivery time - We’ve also integrated Gorgias to PrettyDamnQuick to automatically send shoppers at risk of a slow delivery a personalized offer to win their trust back The results that we’re driving from these tests aren't isolated either. There are countless brands that are ramping up conversions from perfecting their delivery experience - and it’s all the more reason that you should NOT be sleeping on checkout optimization. If customers have TOTAL trust that we can get their products delivered quickly and consistently, it’s all the more reason for them to buy.
