As a designer it is imperative that we own the process from seed to final product- thereby ensuring circularity and transparency.
It is only when you own the process, that you can stay true to the cause.

🌊Mark your calendars ! The Global Seaweed Coalition, UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and The World Bank are partnering to deliver an official hybrid side event during this year’s UN High Level Political Forum in New York on July 10th, 09:00 AM (ET)!
Register here: https://lnkd.in/eDPk4_wt
The event, entitled “Seaweed – Reinforcing the 2030 agenda and helping improve livelihoods through effective delivery of sustainable, resilient, and innovative solutions to multiple crises,” will be held at the UN Trade & Development (former UNCTAD) office in New York.
This event aims to inform attendees of the multifaceted contributions seaweed is making to, and its potential to do even more for, the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals under review by this year's HLPF. It will call for the creation of a global dialogue and coordination mechanism for mainstreaming the rapid growth and value of seaweed and its by-products into sustainable development action on the road to the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) in 2025.
The event will enhance member state's understanding of seaweed’s potential as a regenerative solution to improve livelihoods, especially for women, and to address multiple global crises. The event will also contribute to the international public dialogue on the need to formalize the trade policy, development, and science nexus for the seaweed sector.
Detailed agenda to be provided soon on UNCTAD's website: https://lnkd.in/ess6ye2n
Stay tuned !

Ever wondered what leather waste can turn into? It can become food for #soil and even chicken feed.
My journey into #leather production and its afterlife has revealed possible ways of utilizing natural #waste and its by-products. While leather production can be damaging due to its processes, it's heartening to discover solutions that ensure we do not leave its waste behind
Leather waste can be incinerated under controlled conditions. The high temperatures break down the organic components of the leather, leaving behind ash rich in minerals.
The ash from burned leather waste contains valuable nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and trace elements that can be beneficial for soil health.
By converting leather waste into fertilizer, valuable nutrients are recycled back into the soil, reducing the need for synthetic #fertilizers
Utilizing leather waste in this manner helps reduce the environmental impact of the leather industry by diverting waste from #landfills and minimizing #pollution.
Leather-derived fertilizers can enhance soil structure, improve microbial activity, and boost plant growth, contributing to #sustainable#agricultural practices.

At UNESCO, as a team of young women entrepreneurs, we are working towards elevating the status of women in fragile states due to conflict and climate change.
Women are the most affected by climate change. According to the IPCC report, Women's vulnerability to climate change stems from a number of factors -- social, economic and cultural.
Seventy per cent of the 1.3 billion people living in conditions of poverty are women.
Our work at UNESCO will focus on creating innovative economic models within the fashion industry.
These models aim to ensure future growth and security for humanity as we face the dual crises of war and climate change.
We are committed to developing solutions that will withstand the test of time, evolving into growth models that benefit communities in fragile zones.
