Ready or not, winter is coming! Here are some recommended tips to help prepare your home for the colder months ahead. Those of us residing in the Seacoast know that our historic and unique properties need special love and care to get through the treachery that is to come in the way of snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. Here are some tips to prepare your Seacoast New England home for the winter chill: 1. Insulate, Insulate, Insulate! Ensure your home is properly insulated to keep the warmth in and the cold out. Check windows, doors, and any other potential drafts. 2️. Check your heating system! Schedule a maintenance check for your furnace or heating system to ensure it's in tip-top shape for the frosty months ahead. 3️. Protect your pipes! Prevent frozen pipes by insulating them and allowing faucets to drip during particularly cold nights. 4️. Clear your gutters and drains! Ensure that rainwater and melting snow can flow freely to prevent ice dams and potential damage to your roof. 5️. Stock up on winter essentials! Don't forget to have shovels, snowmelt, and other winter tools ready to tackle any snowstorms that may come your way. 6️. Trim those trees! Prune any overhanging branches that could potentially pose a risk to your property during heavy snow or wind. 7️. Prepare to hunker in! Be ready for any unexpected power outages by having an emergency kit that includes flashlights, batteries, blankets, and non-perishable food. Or get a generator. If you need help finding a service provider to help with any of the above, I am happy to steer you in the right direction! #winteriscoming #mainerealtor #seacoastnh #seacoastnhrealestate #seacoasthomes #portsmouthrealestate #portsmoutrealtor #dovernhrealestate #suothberwick #southberwickrealestate #homepreparation #winterhomepreparation #newenglandhomes #realtormom #seacoastlately #seacoastmoms #newhampshirerealestate #newhampshirerealtor #wintersinmaine #portsmouthnh #bringbacksummer

Wintertime is fast approaching, and some states have already had their first taste of snow (we’re looking at you, Colorado)! Don’t wait for snow and ice to occur before preparing your building or facility for the changing weather. Start preparing now! Here are some steps you should be taking to make sure your building is ready for winter: - Make sure the weather stripping, insulation, and windows are all up to par so that the cold, ice, and water don’t seep into your building. - Insulate the water lines running along the exterior walls to prevent freezing. - Clean out gutters and repair any roof leaks. - Check on the heating system(s) to make sure they are clean, working properly, ventilated to the outside, and ready for winter use. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, after all. Getting ready before winter weather hits will help prevent an emergency repair or situation that will cost much more than a prevention measure. #WinterWeather #WinterSafety #Winterizing #FacilityManagement #AHI
