📚👋🏾 Reading everyday and adding new books to my home “library” has been a valuable way to explore new ways of thinking, expand my knowledge and stay present during my “digital detox” this summer! One book that I recently acquired is Rick Rubin’s “The Creative Act: A Way of Being”. Connecting with creativity can be a great source of well-being. It's exciting to see McKinsey's 2024 book recommendations are out. I always enjoy exploring these lists (and those like it) to discover new ideas, check off what I've read, and add to my ever-growing to-read pile. For later this year, I'm adding these four titles to my list: "What You Do Is Who You Are" by Ben Horowitz "The Art of Explanation" by Ros Atkins "The Formula" by Joshua Robinson and Jonathan Clegg "How Infrastructure Works" by Deb Chachra What's on your reading list for the year? When facing a tough decision, it’s dangerous to rely on common analytical tools like pros & cons lists. In the book “Decisive,” Chip and Dan Heath reveal decision-making processes are far more reliable in delivering good outcomes. Their research uncovered the following process: - Widen your options: consider alternatives to avoid narrow framing - Reality-test your assumptions: run small experiments to validate theories - Attain distance before deciding: overcome distracting short-term emotions - Prepare to be wrong: instill tripwires, deadlines and partitions for accountability
