1.1 (A+) Graduate of BA World Languages

I am happy to announce that I have graduated with 1st class honours (A+) in my BA in World Languages at University College Cork, where I studied advanced Mandarin, Japanese and Spanish alongside modules in various other disciplines. This degree included a year abroad at the National University of Singapore (8th in the World, QS 2025) and a summer academic programme at the University of Oxford (3rd in the World, QS 2025). In these institutions, I was instructed in many new disciplines, such as Global Political Economy, International Security and upper-intermediate Korean. My graduate average places me among the top of my class. This was something that I did not anticipate, given that I was simultaneously working 2 jobs as an Undergraduate Tutor and as the Head Editor of UCC Motley Magazine. I believe I’ve had a successful time, some accomplishments include: - I maintained top grades throughout my degree. - During my 3rd year of undergraduate studies, I had a 7,500-word research article published in my college's postgraduate peer-reviewed journal. - I won national Japanese and Chinese language competitions. - I won 7 UCC works awards in all possible categories.  - I won the UCC Global Citizen Award for national and international volunteer work. - I successfully undertook Public Relations Officer roles in 3 UCC Societies and 1 UCC Project. - I attended 3 Summer Schools at the University of Oxford, Sorbonne University and University College Cork.   - I have now gained upper-intermediate to advanced proficiency in 7 languages.  - I held 10 different job positions in various sectors, including computer programming teaching, student journalism, higher-education facility administration, conference management, and tutoring.  - I successfully completed the UCC PX3001 Internship Module, gaining extra credits on my diploma supplement. As a result, I was offered places in master's programmes at top-ranking universities. In the immediate future, I plan to complete a CLEC Scholarship Chinese Language Immersion summer programme at Shanghai University, which I recently received on the basis of high grades. I would like to extend gratitude to many, but particularly to 3 important individuals: Professor Kiri Paramore was an amazing lecturer at UCC. He constantly challenged my thinking, helped me deconstruct my biases, and deepened my understanding of Chinese Philosophy and China's complex relationship with Liberal Internationalism. His academic record is highly inspirational. Dr. Kira Huju, my tutor at the University of Oxford Summer School, was beyond excellent. She completely changed my life, and I regularly read her world-class research, which has significantly broadened my mind and understanding. My course director, Dr. Caroline Williamson Sinalo, was also exemplary. Her guidance and belief in my capabilities motivated me to pursue many opportunities. Her recommendation letters were crucial in my postgraduate admissions. It has been such a privilege!
