The next internet is going to know who is turning the TV on, every time. Let me take this one step further: the next internet is going to know who else is in the room when the TV gets turned on; it is going to take all of this information into account so it can deliver a relevant experience from the jump. This shift towards presence-based connectivity represents a broader trend in technology, where the focus is on creating experiences that are not only personalized but also deeply ingrained in the rhythm of our homes. A new survey from Deloitte suggests that consumers love having connected digital devices, but that they are looking for balance between the digital and physical worlds in a post-pandemic landscape. Consumers are also facing ‘digital fatigue’ when it comes to securing and managing their devices. There's a certain nostalgia that comes with the simplicity of life before the internet era. The image here captures a time when presence meant sharing the same physical space, conversations were uninterrupted by notifications, and laughter was the only viral content we knew. Reflecting on this scene, it's a poignant reminder that while technology has connected us in extraordinary ways, it's also essential to sometimes disconnect. To look up from our screens, engage with the world directly in front of us, and create moments that don't require Wi-Fi but instead rely on the warmth of human connection. As we embrace the conveniences of the digital age, let's also remember to cherish and create space for the uncomplicated joys of offline interactions. Wearable tech is going to be one of the year’s biggest trends in fitness and health this year. I see wearables mentioned often in the same breath as fitness when it comes to step counting, closing rings, and reaching activity goals. But we’ve moved far past that in terms of what wearable tech can do for those trying to improve fitness and health. More and more research supports the importance of rest and recovery as equally important to progression and outcomes than training or movement itself. Our bodies are not machines, they are complex and unique to each of us. There isn’t a formula that works for all and it’s up to each of us to find the right mixture of inputs and outputs that find balance. That’s where wearable tech can play a more meaningful role: using a credible, continuous measurement method, you can perform N=1 experiments that show how small behavior tweaks can change outcomes overtime. The importance of sleep, recovery, and personalized data can’t be overstated, and technology has a critical role to play in how we understand and optimize it. If you’re not resting optimally, you can’t achieve the best outcomes in any area of life. #WithOura
