We are furthering our commitment in water technology and waste remediation with our latest investment in Aclarity. The threat of PFAS to living creatures and ecosystems is real and still yet to be fully understood. PFAS remediation is a bit personal for me - much of my graduate work focused on fluoropolymer chemistry. From a materials science perspective, perfluoronated compounds were fascinating. Many of these materials are insoluble in organics, insoluble in water, and oddly soluble in liquid CO2 (don't try that at home). Which made them highly resiliant to nasty environments and therefore cool for commercial depolyment. My first startup, Liquidia, began as a microfluidics company with devices made of this fabulous material. We ended up rapidly pivoting away from this focus as we discovered alternative uses and materials that enabled new nanoparticle fabrication techniques. However, I understand why these materials have been used across industries for their unique properties. And the corollary, the resiliancy makes them exceptionally difficult to capture and destroy. Aclarity is our second investment in PFAS remediation, focused on effective, efficient destruction. Puraffinity was our first - a granular capture media which was the only startup we could find focused on PFAS back in 2019 when we first identified this area of need. I appreciate all the attention that is being focused on this difficult problem - I predict many solutions will be needed.

Sentient, an open-source development platform for artificial intelligence (AI), has secured $85 million in a seed funding round led by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund alongside Pantera Capital and Framework Ventures.
