Roland Manger’s Post

When #DevOps first appeared, I thought it wasn´t a big deal, probably a small niche, beneficial for only the largest and most complex of organisations. How wrong I was. Huge benefits in terms of productivity, quality, cost and time have been created for tens of thousands of IT organisations. Large fortunes were made by supplying the means for it, both by software incumbents and startups. Fast forward: Simr (formerly UberCloud) is working with some of the largest and most sophisticated engineering organisations in the world including three of the Magnificent Seven. Simr originally provided a first version of their platform to unify operation and use of a broad range of simulation software on any suitable platform, Cloud, Edge, or Hybrid. Working with the most demanding customers, they learned that just providing a layer of system software was not enough, by far. A comprehensive and integrated set of methods, practices, processes and tools was necessary to take away the complexity of deploying, operating, and using highly-technical applications that at the same time are very performance, cost and security sensitive. It would also free engineers from a lot of overhead activities so more time could be spent on making the right design decisions. #SimOps was born. And I am not going to make the same mistake again ... https://lnkd.in/dzJ-iepR
