Technical recyclability is a prerequisite but without a return rate guaranteed only by DRS which can reach 98%, it risks remaining at the level of wishful thinking. The main and real problem/challenge that "innovative" pack must face is achieving a closed loop, with related main costs (80% al least) borne by beverage producers, and not by municipalities as happens in UE countries for packaging not covered by a DRS. There are packaging introduced on the market decades before there were infrastructures ready to recycle them, as is the case with PET trays. When the recycling technology is ready, the challenge of economic sustainability is there to stay. As a matter of fact the costs to be incurred to intercept packaging ( especially) consumed "on the go" ( even if designed for recycling) rarely is compensated by the value of the packaging. Even chemical recycling which is brought as a "silver bullet" compared to mechanical recycling, faces the same challenges. Talking about binding decarbonisation targets for the beverage, the entire life cycle must be considered (emissions scope 1-2-3) and also the impacts of the products on other environmental indicators which have negative negative effects on exceeding the planetary boundaries.

Great to see such a large brand leading the way and showing it can be done. Nice job.
