What can I say that is not been said? Heads up! Ostrich heads out of the sand! The human race is in serious trouble as deadly bacteria have outsmarted antibiotics because they are clever and we are so eager for a quick fix that we have taken antibiotics that are meant to kill bacteria. Unfortunately, they do not work on viruses. As many of you know, I spent three years fighting and barely surviving a deadly bacterial infection called C. Difficile. We work together as a nonprofit organization lobbing our Congress people working towards trying to find and develop new targeted antibiotic drugs, and understand the microbiome, so that no others will end up dying as the result the lack of antibiotic protection for a serious infection. We need your help. We need donations in order to continue to do the work that we have done over the past 10 years it has been remarkable. It has led in no small part to some new biologic treatments and it has brought awareness to millions of people around the world who never even knew that an infection like CDF existed until someone they knew passed from it. Please, please, considering making a donation to a nonprofit organization, where you know the money is only going to serve the human population, and protect our future. Every bacterial infection is part of this crisis!

9 Gallons! Seriously? That's crazy. One of the things Ramsey Solutions does every year is put together a company-wide blood drive for the Red Cross. I give regularly through a local Red Cross office on my way home. But, I will usually try to time donations so I can participate with the company. I just got a note from the Red Cross that my recent donation pushed me to the 9 gallon mark of donations. Wow! To put that in context: The normal human body has anywhere from 1.2-1.5 gallons of blood. I've effectively emptied myself 7 times. Ha! Giving blood is life-saving for others. It's also good for your body. It helps generate the production of new, fresh blood cells. I always say I give for the snacks. However, since I've had to go gluten-free the past couple of years, the snack choices are a bit limited. In reality, I give because I want to help others. That, and the fact that I'm O- and CMV- which means I'm in high demand with great blood to give to babies in need.
