Yesterday the Rarekind team attended our ‘Away day’; a day to collaborate, bring the whole team together, and work towards the end of the year and the start of 2024.   One of the topics Geoff Crews covered was around anchor points – significant events, or experiences throughout our lives that have a lasting and stabilising influence on growth and identity.   We went around the room and were encouraged to share our own anchor points. Some shared moments from their childhood, some of hardship and others of big changes in their lives.   It got me thinking about my own anchor points in my life and how they’ve influenced my identity. A recent one that came to mind was actually earlier this year, when I made the scary step (leap) into a new career in recruitment, after 10 years in real estate.   The growth I’ve experienced in such a short time, since making this decision, has been so rewarding. It hasn’t always been comfortable, and definitely had its challenges in adapting to a completely new industry– but it’s so exciting to take a step back and look at how far I’ve come.    It’s so important to take the time to reflect on these moments in our lives and recognise the growth and impact they’ve had on us.   Can you think of an anchor point in your own career? #rarekind #anchorpoints #careerchange

However, one of the incredible things about having a rock-solid team (pun intended!) is that they give you the courage to push through literal and metaphorical boundaries. And guess what? I DID IT. I scaled those walls like Spider-Man but with less grace and more grunting. 🕷️💪 🌈 Why We Do This We switch off our screens every month and head out for team fun. Why? Clocking in 9-to-5 isn't what makes a team; the laughs, the shared struggles, and the collective triumphs do. It's in these moments that I know I am fulfilling my calling! Sometimes it’s cool when people get fired! Fifteen years ago today, Parklife’s founder, Brian Castle, was fired from his last job. We are thankful for his firing, and glad that it was done with enough malice to make him rethink his career. Now, Parklife is 18 people strong. Like Brian, many of us are misfit toys, and we’ve found an island where we can be authentically ourselves and thrive with our clients and each other.
