It took us three years, but it's only the beginning: We're proud to call ourselves an official B Corp as of today. What began as a project with ABN AMRO Bank N.V. ImpactnationNL evolved into a much bigger ambition: Becoming part of the B Corp / B Lab movement. From the installation of our sustainability team to the first assessment, incorporating our mission into the Articles of Association and making it part of the company - and team- goals, to implementing many changes in our full way of working, this was by far our biggest evolution ever. But we're not there yet at all. Becoming a B Corp is just the starting point of our sustainability transition, and we're far from calling ourselves "sustainable". I am delighted to announce I have made a huge change. I am now the Senior ESG Advisor to Suncorp Bank. This new chapter allows me to extend my impact far beyond human rights and the social dimension of ESG, delving into environmental sustainability, decarbonisation, nature and governance on a broader scale.   The unifying thread in both my past and current roles has always been the relentless pursuit of positive impact. Importantly, I'm not bidding farewell to my passion for human rights, I view this transition through a lens of holistic collaboration, where fostering a healthier planet seamlessly aligns with the advancement of human rights.   Drawing from my background in human rights advocacy, I see this move as a natural evolution, an opportunity to seamlessly integrate my expertise in social responsibility into a more comprehensive ESG framework. Always on the 🔗Connecting CMB to our Planet Sustainability #Challenge 👾by HSBC Commercial Banking on Kaido For 4 weeks, we are immersed in a #fun, #collaborative and team-centred experience that will drive cohesion and a competitive spirit. In as little as 15 minutes per day, our team complete daily tasks that help us build new, and #sustainable habits. This event really highlighted the need to drive a greater shift towards sustainable investments. How do we encourage more investments in the “blue and green pound”? My key takeaways: 👍🏽Highlight Long-Term Value: Sustainable assets often outperform traditional ones over the long term. Let’s showcase these success stories. 👍🏽Raise Awareness: Educate investors about the environmental and financial benefits of sustainable investments. Jamie Dimon, my former classmate and colleague, has done a great job at J.P. Morgan and deserves every credit for turning it into a global powerhouse. His recent disavowal of DEI and ESG is completely unnecessary and beneath him. Instead, he is influential enough to be able to say, "The country is diverse, our customers are diverse, and we need to have a work force that is diverse. It is essential that every employee feels secure and welcome -- that's not ideology, it's just good business. What's more, we have always been careful about the companies with which we do business. Climate change is real and customers' risk from climate change equals greater credit risk for us. Companies that mismanage their relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, communities, and other stakeholders create greater credit risk for us. Companies with sub-standard governance create greater credit risk for us. We have always done first-class business and we always will."

Today is my first anniversary at Triodos Bank, an exceptional organisation which mission is "to help create a society that protects and promotes the quality of life of all its members, and that has human dignity at its core." When I first read this mission statement, I rubbed my eyes in amazement. I never thought that a bank could "make money work for positive social, environmental and cultural change". Based on my experiences, I believed that financial institutions are some of the greediest in the corporate world. Therefore, my first question during the interview was: "Is this real?". When I was thinking about my future twenty years ago, I never thought I would be working in a bank. At the very beginning of my career, I was not aware, like most people, of how the labour market worked and what to expect in the workplace. I had to clash my ideals with the reality of the cold capitalist machine, which still treats people like resources, and find my path in life while staying true to my heart. From the moment I read Erich Fromm's "To Have or To Be" and Abraham Maslow's "Motivation and Personality", I knew we needed systemic change if we wanted to create an environment where people could thrive and fulfil their potential. I started studying psychology and decided that at some point I would work in HR and be able to use social science at work to help people. Today this is my reality, my privilege, my responsibility and my blessing. I should take this opportunity to mention all my colleagues at Triodos with whom I work, to let them know how much I value our cooperation. However, it would be a huge challenge for me to list everyone and I do not want any person to feel left out or called to the board. I also believe that we are all equal and every person at Triodos deserves my gratitude and respect, so let's do it differently. If you work at Triodos, regardless of country, entity or team, please know that I am very grateful for your work and that we are part of the same community. If we work closely, please be assured that I will always do my best to help and support you, even if I sometimes make mistakes. “The job of an ESG responsible is to make themselves obsolete,” is what I heard Bernard Mathieu say recently. A witty and thought-provoking statement, but I do believe in this future vision. We are not there yet, that is for sure. As we struggle to find our way through the “administrative burden” of compliant #CSRD reporting and examine over a thousand #ESRS data points, we are finding a balance between compliance tickboxing (less of this!) and authentic #sustainability strategy development (more of this!). We work on awareness, we get people on board across the entire organisation, and we plant little seeds of change. 🌱 I am very happy with and proud of Advanzia Bank S.A.'s inaugural Sustainability Report. It is the result of great teamwork, perseverance and a true commitment to becoming a more sustainable bank.
