Last week, I attended the 27th Annual The Wharton School Leadership Conference. There were so many talented speakers from the leadership and HR space and I came away from the conference refreshed with ideas and inspiration. I took an insane amount of notes! But one speaker has left me thinking a lot about his presentation on People, Risk, and Leadership in the New World.
Because of his presentation, I've been reading more on this subject. John Bremen shared that disruptions will increasingly affect where and how people live and work and that the #1 concern of leaders in recent surveys and conversations has been Health & Safety, including threats/issues such as the pandemic, financial crisis, inflation, social disruption, labor strikes, cyber exposure, war/conflict and supply chain disruptions. Think about it - that's just been in the last 4 years!
I'm noticing this more and more in a global workplace. As we move our crews around from different countries, we're increasingly looking at health and safety measures, how it impacts employee willingness to travel, steps we take to ensure their safety, and how it impacts our bottom line.
Are you noticing an increased focus on health and safety in your company and for your team? What steps are you taking?
