"WORK SMART NOT HARD"

Spoiler alert: hobbies that have nothing to do with your job make you better at your job. For me, I do powerlifting competitions and play Dungeons and Dragons. That means in my spare time I’m getting better at… 💪 Pushing through discomfort 💪 Prioritizing rest days 💪 Measuring my progress 🐉 Collaborating with others 🐉 Thinking on my feet 🐉 Leading group discussions Could I read about these things in business books? Sure. But I prefer to do my professional development with a barbell and D20 dice. Tell me the biggest work lesson you’ve learned from your hobby ⬇️

Just putting this out into the universe because it's something I truly want. I want to be part of something bigger than me, as long as it helps others. I want to be part of something bigger than me, as long as it helps others. I want to be part of something bigger than me, as long as it helps others. I've always had the mindset of being solid teammate. Whether it was playing sports or part of my career, doing my part while reaching the same goal is always one of the best feelings.(I have one little league championship! That counts for something, right? 😂 ) But I don't get that satisfaction of "team" currently. A lot of my job is working alone and making my own decisions. The only impact I am making is towards the customer and corporate. I'm fine with that, but I want more for the sake of my career growth and personal growth. I can't use tools that are finely tuned as much as I like. I want the relationship building that goes beyond co-workers. The genuine aspect of building up towards something big. Unfortunately, I don't have magic red slippers to tap on to make it happen instantly, so I'll have to take the scenic route on this one. And honestly, I prefer a good view along the journey. This is something that keeps me up at night. The worst feeling in the world is knowing you’re working hard but you’re in the same place. My mind goes to so many places: Am I not working hard enough? Should I try something new? Am I not working smart? The point is, don’t ever settle for less.
