Advanced layer stacks are an innovative approach in connector industry, to optimize the use of expensive materials like gold. Reducing the gold layer thickness in hard gold-plated connectors can be challenging due to the need to maintain corrosion resistance and durability. However, using intermediate layers like Palladium Nickel (PdNi) and Nickel Phosphor (NiP) can effectively address this issue. These layers have a proven track record in enabling a reduction of hard gold layer thickness while still meeting customer requirements.
