All New Vehicles to be Equipped with Advanced Safety Systems. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4bzh2gj From Sunday 7 July, newly manufactured vehicles sold in Ireland must come equipped with a range of advanced safety systems. The move comes with the implementation of an EU regulation which aims to significantly reduce deaths and serious injuries on roads by mandating certain Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in new vehicles. Seatbelt use on decline among drivers and front seat passengers according to RSA research. The RSA is urging drivers and passengers to always wear a seat belt on every journey. A 2023 observational study reported a 4% decrease in seat belt wearing rates for drivers and a 5% decrease for front seat passengers since 2022. Summer months have higher proportion of motorcyclist deaths and serious injuries. Ahead of the June Bank Holiday Weekend, Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Jack Chambers, the RSA and An Garda Síochána are reminding all road users to share the road safely as the high-risk summer period commences for motorcyclists. The newly published RSA Motorcyclist spotlight report reveals the peak time for serious injuries among motorcyclists over the last five years is between May and September, with the highest number of serious injuries taking place in June and the highest number of fatalities taking place in July.
