One of the most impactful books I share from my collection is "Steal Like an Artist" by Austin Kleon. Rather than being a fixed part of my library, this book often finds its way into the hands of colleagues and peers. I advocate for the idea that innovation doesn't necessitate starting from zero. Instead, it's about refining and reimagining what already exists to create something new and personalized. This methodology is applicable across a wide range of scenarios, from developing new marketing strategies to enhancing the design of landing pages. The essence of creativity lies in building upon proven successes, then tailoring them with our unique insights and perspectives. Incorporating personal experiences and individuality into our work distinguishes our contributions. Our unique view of the world, shaped by distinct personalities and backgrounds, is invaluable. It's this unique perspective that often propels us into our current roles and can drive professional excellence while preserving our authenticity. Adopting this mindset not only fosters innovation but also encourages a personal touch in all we do. Let's inspire and be inspired, recognizing that the most meaningful advancements come from a blend of shared knowledge and individual creativity. #Innovation #Creativity #ProfessionalGrowth #StealLikeAnArtist

I just finished The Creative Act: A Way of Being, a profound exploration of creativity and artistic identity, where Rubin presents a compelling narrative that resonates deeply with me. Rubin's book provides a valuable perspective on embracing creativity as a fundamental aspect of human existence. Here are three key takeaways that particularly stood out to me: Embrace Your Inner World: Rubin draws an analogy between the richness of nature and our inner world, emphasizing that our inner landscape is just as diverse and beautiful. This idea resonates with me, as it suggests that creativity springs from within and is as boundless as nature itself. Trust Your Intuition: One of Rubin's powerful messages is following your intuition, even when it contradicts external advice or trends. This has been a guiding principle in my life and work, where trusting my gut feeling has often led to more authentic and fulfilling outcomes. Creativity as a Process: Rubin outlines the creative journey as having four phases: collecting ideas (Seeds), experimenting (Experimentation), refining (Crafting), and completing (Completion). The book is for artists and anyone looking to tap into their inherent creative potential. Super-recommended read! #Creativity #Innovation #PersonalDevelopment

In innovation, so much of what we do is rooted in telling compelling stories that have a visceral impact, build a reason to believe in our new concepts or insights, and that are long-lasting in people’s memories. Ellen Lupton's book, Design is Storytelling, is a colourful, illustrated guide through the rollercoaster of different tools that we as innovators can apply to our work. And, in three acts, breaks down how we can communicate and also create experiences with different actions, emotions and sensations. A highly recommended resource for any innovator’s toolkit! • • #HereForInnovators #Creativity #DesignThinking #DesignResearch #Insight #Innovation #Collaboration #WhatWeAreReading #ThinkingOutsideTheBooks #DesignIsStorytelling #EllenLupton #Storytelling #StickyIdeas #INDUSTRYofUs

Better strategy - Better results | Helping ambitious leaders design and implement unique business models to accelerate profitable growth
How to create better decisions? Roger Martin and Jennifer Riel explore integrative thinking to create better solutions to problems in their book "Creating Great Choices." They challenge the traditional approach to decision-making, which often leads to sub-optimal recommendations. Instead, they propose to create better answers by leveraging Design Thinking to generate and explore new possibilities that will be prototyped and tested. It is an excellent book, concrete and, above all, practical. It will help you: 1 - Articulate opposing models. 2 - Explore the key elements of each model and reframe the problem. 3 - Generate possibilities. 4 - Prototype and test each possibility. I highly recommend it to anyone developing their strategic thinking capabilities.
