If you want to improve your public speaking, here's one thing you can do to get better results. It's around mindset, so it doesn't cost anything to change - LOL In a business or sales meeting when I tell a story, I perform that story. Online over teams or Zoom when I tell a story, I perform that story. When I deliver a webinar and tell a story, I perform that story. When I deliver a keynote and tell a story, I PERFORM THAT STORY. One to one, or hundreds it only changes in the size and volume with which I deliver it. But one thing is always the same, it's the passion and enthusiasm that I bring to the story no matter the situation. Because I need to deliver it in a way that lets the person listening forget about the world around them. Forget about their phone, forget about the time, forget about everything. And get lost in my story. And that is the mindset that you can change. Because when it comes to sharing your stories, it's not a presentation, it's a performance. It takes energy to turn on the switch, but it can be done. I'm an ambivert, I can turn the switch on when I want and need to, but it comes at a price. The bigger the performance over an extended time, the more time I need to give myself to recover and be ready for the next one. The results are worth the effort, and the feeling of pushing your self-expression is rewarding beyond anything to do with work. Some with connections to people I know, and some not.
