There are also exemptions for contracts executed outside the Kingdom, companies that are the sole provider of a particular service or commodity and emergencies that can only be handled by a foreign company. However, these limited exceptions to the Saudi HQ rules do not amount to loopholes and are unlikely to have a significant impact. Alternatively, if no alternative bids are submitted, such companies may also be eligible. Exemptions to these rules exist for contracts conducted outside the Kingdom, situations where a company is the sole provider of a specific service or commodity, and emergencies that necessitate the involvement of a foreign company. In times of economic uncertainty, adapting to new billing methods and maintaining open communication will contribute to a more resilient and successful construction process. Remember not to sign any contracts with no variation, especially if you are not going to receive up to 90% upfront payment this time around. A few days ago, #SaudiArabia announced a 30-year tax relief for multinationals setting up regional HQs in Riyadh. 💸 This relief incentive includes a zero per cent [0%] rate for: 1️⃣ Corporate income tax. Right now, it's 20% in KSA, 10% in Qatar, and 9% in UAE. A huge difference for guys who can fight for 1ppts in net profit. 2️⃣ Withholding tax (‘’WHT’’) related to the approved regional HQ activities. Currently, this tax can be from 5% or higher. On top of these benefits, the company will receive unprecedented support from the administrative perspective, including a 10-year exemption from the Saudization program. For instance, before, companies had to employ the locals following different requirements. All of this opens a new chapter for business development in the region, meanwhile boosting the economy of KSA itself. I do believe that many global brands, in addition to 200+ corporations already confirmed, will establish their regional HQ in Riyadh. 🤔 You could ask me: "And what do I care about that?" From my personal perspective, it will mean a significant shift in the Riyadh business community's development. Since I live here, I highly appreciate and am happy about any news that pushes things forward in a right direction.
